So loking back my understanding that pantheon rise of the fallen started around january 2014...not that the kickstarter campain did it to well, but the stone started to roll att that movement.so now almost 4 year and some months later where are we ? is the zones still under constructions or are they only on paper how big is the constructed world like how long does it take to run over a continent (no aggro or speedbuff go for the chalange !!) starting zones yes i now secrets are best and i dont need to know the ditailed but it would be nice to know that they existed. Also when loking att all the awsome streams and the awsome wipes =O what i most is wondering what the state of some of the dungeons are like, aggro mobs thru walls are kinda naughty and that they might be redesigned in some way.witch will take time,
then we have charachter design, weapon, armor ,partical effects how far is it comming. Yes i know nothing is set in stone or pre-planned in any way the players will know about it, but loking thru the forums i can se people have droped of because of the time and just got tiered of waiting for a game (yes i know it is unrealistic on all levels to get a full fledged game handed to you and i rather have a reasonable bugfree game then a catastrophic mess to play)
Still it would be nice to have a very general ide of the progress of the game. And plz dont get it the wrong way =) i really want to experience terminus on all levels but i have this little itch that is calling time and i dont want to play with a handfull of players when most have forgotten or giving upp on pantheon !
That said i still belive that pantheons community is one of the most vibrant i have ever seen and the ideeas and sugestions are kinda like a rainbow of expressions. And if the moderators is reading this plz
uppgrade your class part i think that would make some people happy =)
And when we meet in game Mare Nostrum...
They've (Pantheon Devs) have had 4 twitch streams in the last two months. I feel the energy around Pantheon is as high as it's ever been.
If you're feeling that itch, check out the News forums where many of these streams are linked on YouTube. Watching those and you'll be hyped too.

The game world is in pre-alpha state...that means testing. The stages of old school testing work like this..Pre-alpha, Alpha, and then beta. There are livestreams to watch on you-tube..under the Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen name. Here is the latest one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwEiwRLQzTU (note video seems to start at the end..need to push it back to the start to begin viewing.)
I somewhat agree here. While I’ve invested in this game’s development, there’s been lots of talk about the social aspect of this game (which i personally feel is being a bit overplayed) while there’s a complete lack of overview of game content in its current state overall. The extremely narrow portal into a game that has been in development for 4 years does leave a broad sense of the unknown, and while a lot of people will fill that void with their own ideas about what the game will be, many others will simply assume the content isn’t there. I, for one, am on the fence with this issue, but have invested as a fan of the devs and the genre and in hopes of participating in something special even if it’s a risk.
It would be great to see a broader overview of the game, not just text from devs and fans, but actual content. I’m sure its coming but the lack of even a sense of it 4 years in is a worthy acknowledgement.

yes thrust me i have seen all the streams they have officaly posted and the one that actually gave me most insight was "the making of a city" where you could actually see the thinking, building or the lack of above aka placeholders i saw the grass the light and the water. that was the most telling for me ? not the fighting and the little dungeon crawling i saw in other streams (because not one single thing is set in stone not even all the classes or races are represented there =)

Aqua said:I hear your concerns. I'm sure there is still a sizable amount of work to do, but with the game being in pre-alpha, things should be gearing up to start putting the puzzle together. While VR had to spend a long time building said puzzle pieces, now its time to start connecting things and see what needs fine tuning. Tough to know just how much fine tunning they need, but if the puzzle pieces largely fit, then it'll be time to move on to alpha. Obviously I'm saying this as a pledger with no affiliation to VR so I could be completely wrong in this assessment, but from everything I've seen, this is where the state of the game is at.CanadinaXegony said:well of course they are building and testing, this is a game under development ? that isent the question where is the game now after 4 years from what i see it it have a very long way to go before a finished product perhaps in line of years so my biggest fears are that people will just forgett about this project and move on. perhaps some more general information hub like we have made all the zones and we have populated half of em with quest ..that doesent give anything upp but give a general guideline where the game is.this is just my opinion but i thought i could attleast talk about it =)Rroe said:I somewhat agree here. Yes ..games under development take at minimum five years through the development phase. I and many others like me have been around and pledged..since 2014.
I would say that the interest in this game has ramped up considerably since the early days. We are currently in pre-alpha ..with alpha and beta phases to follow. Lack of a sense of it?
In what manner..there is PLENTY of information on this site..on MMORPG site..and even Redditt. Check you-tube out too. There's lots to read about here and other places ..just check the forums. Lots of discussion in prior threads without the need to start new ones up. :) I've been here since 2014 and I rarely start up a new topic, because I am too busy reading and commenting on threads that already exist. :) Just run down the list in the General Forums..oodles to read. :)
And anyone that is an actual tester is under the NDA...- non-disclosure agreement, therefore can't cough up any details. The Devs post on these forums too...pay attention to what they're saying. :)

At the same time, I don't think I could tell much about the game other then a few lower level dungeon crawls and a few classes, few races and spells. I have NO clue the details of building a game, but I would think a game that is in pre-alpha ( testing ) stage most of the game should be built and in place right? I recall reading something about testing for a year roughly. Is that per stage? Or overall? I know no release date as been giving, and I am not wanting to sound like I am rushing devs but we are going into the 5 month of pre-alpha if my math is right. Back in the day you would just see a preview of a cool game, then a few months later game release. No one saw all the hard work put into the game. In this case the devs invited us along for the adventure of creating this great game and in doing so we ask a lot of dumb questions. Haha.
Agreed, the last thing any of us want to see is a KILLER preview of a game that costs a bazillion dollars and is just eye candy. We’ve seen 100’s of those. But there are ways to create teasers that could start to paint a broader picture that could coincide with the current dungeon crawl. Sort of like development storyboarding but maybe its not time yet.
And I’m trying to speak in the interest of the game because I’ve heard this game mentioned for years and kept looking into it only to be turned away due to lack of tangible content, for lack of a better term.

Meh. Every time I see a new thread about the "state of the game", with requests to give more information about the game, I almost always say "Yes!" in my head.
But then I think about all of the other MMO's I've followed. I think about how they all gave details and class descriptions and any little thing they could just to keep the hype going. I'd follow it and plan my character and get so excited ......and then be ridiculously disappointed when the game was finally released (ESO anyone?!).
I get what you're saying, OP - but I'm perfectly ok with the way they're doing it now. More info early doesn't mean anything when it comes to the finished product. It's all hype.
I'm pretty happy with the amount of information we get. Especially since it's still in pre-alpha which means nothing is set in stone, so dev comes out and says "Mac level cap is 60" then they decide to change that later down the road to 50, how disappointed would you be?
I'm not saying this will happen, I'm saying this COULD happen. Here's the beauty of what I see in this game, no publisher, which means they aren't going to launch it just because publisher needs their money now, even tho the game isn't finished. Small team, which means great details, whereas teams like WoW I read an article once, that they had 5 people working on different parts of a zone, and when all 5 got put together it made no sense and they had to go back and rework some things. So, small time company, means it's one or maybe 2 or 3 persons thoughts getting put into this, with the same ideas in mind, meaning less actual work, and greater quality because guy 1 won't have to go and fix guy 2's idea.
I want them to take their time, because I want a finished game. I know every game has it's bugs, it's probably inevitable, but I played on the PTS for ESO almost a year before it launched, and very few of the bugs we reported actually got fixed. It did nothing but make me mad. Like I had wasted my time there. We need more quality out of a game than what we've been offered lately. All these newer MMO's suck, so I look forward to this one because I know if anyone can get it done, it's Brad. Sad part is, because they are a small studio things will take longer. But it's worth more in the end for a studio to take their time and actually release a polished game. EQ launch was flawless, Wow launch was meh, didn't stick around anyway, but all the games that are recently coming out are having server overloads on day 1. It's not acceptable, so let's give these guys the time they need to finish their product, i can promise you it will be worth it.
They're making huge progress, but of course there's still a lot of work left to do. PAX was awesome to show off the progress and get more new people on board. Spirits are high. We are entering a phase where we will start ramping up and getting info more rapidly. For example, and to answer one of your questions, they've already said that the class descriptions will be filled out soon. The game has been in development in a while now and it's finally time to start peeling back the layers to test them and give feedback. If you haven't already, read this State of the Game Joppa posted on a couple months ago: http://www.pantheonmmo.com/newsletter/2018_february_state_of_the_game/
In fact, I suggest going back in the Announcements subforum (https://www.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/1/news-and-announcements ) and reading or re-reading all the past newsletters to help get you up to speed and provide some context about where we are.
Also, there should be a monthly newsletter out next week sometime. It will probably have just enough information to keep us salivating for more!
But seriously, I wonder at the need to know so many details about a game before we play it. I knew next to nothing about EQ when I first picked it up, other than the assumption that it was a 3D MMO similar to UO. No expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised about pretty much everything. Well, everything but the 56k modem I was playing on at the time...

yea, not quite accurate. They do update classes here on the website. But the last newsletter although does have a section called "Rogues' Gallery" .
The Rogues Gallery in April was actually Concerning Ratkin.
(I had to go check, you threw me for a loop and I thought I missed one.)
Hello everyone! Reading all your comments I understand that for this year the game will not even go out in the alpha phase and most likely not even in 2019 ... I confess to having followed the project from 2014 reading and watching videos and I was very excited at the idea but after 4 years this euphoria is diminishing knowing that it will still take years to at least play in alpha. I think that like me other fans will try the same thing. I understand and I share the idea of making the game come out without big bugs and other problems but really I think too much waiting .. It would be nice to be able to play in alpha but now I do not hope anymore ...
Sorry guys mi english in very bad... -_-
I don't think anyone should give up hope that the game will launch within the next year to a year and a half. We all want that to happen, and the fact that we're starting to see more and more information at events and in streams is indication that progress is being made, and quickly. So there's definite reason to hope.
However, it's also important for us to be patient. VR is a small team, with a dedicated group of people who are all fulfilling multiple roles that in a larger studio would be handled by different people. But that's ok, because it enables them to be very agile, and many of them are doing it out of passion for the game they're creating. At times, progress might be slow, but I know from experience that there is no replacement for a development team that truly cares about the product they're building. A smaller, more focused team is often better than a big one.
So don't lose hope. Alpha and Beta will happen when the game is ready for it, but they will happen. I've only had the opportunity to talk with a few of the developers here on these forums, but the impression I've come away with from all of those conversations is that they are working really hard to try and make Pantheon the best game it can possibly be. When we finally get to experience it, I believe it will be worth the wait.
I would like to preface this by saying that this is my speculation:
In regard to the concerns of the current state of the virtual topographical footprint and how it relates to the progress of the development, it is my understanding that the Unity Engine terrain generator takes only moments to generate an entire world once a few texture parameters are entered based on saved presets like grasslands, mountainous, volcanic, aquatic, glacial etc. I don't think the generation of the entire gameworld is as much of a concern as much as having the templates of each terrain and weather/time of day cycles perfected and can probably be popped out at any time once the templates are how they want it. The generation of the cities may be what takes time in order to give them a feel unique to the local population. Having unique NPCs in all of the areas may be a creative challenge as well - unless through Alpha they just have "Cave Orc, Mountain Orc, Artic Orc ect. I imagine that the perception system will be a major focus in Alpha testing, as that sounds like a beast of a system to get working (since it is unique to MMOs).
As far as character animations and bloom effects, that is likely one of the last concerns since they are more concerned with game functionality atm. The more important factors of the player character are what they are working on perfecting which are things like hitbox, proximity, clipping, character reaction to player keystrokes etc. And then of course the long part of Alpha will likely be character/player balancing.
With all of that being said I decided not to expect to be in Alpha until 2020 due to the perception system and city development. Making this decision has made it easy for me to not be terribly concerned with the timing of when Alpha comes out, and if it comes earlier - great! I'm certain that the Alpha pledgers could do just as well a job doing pAlpha testing as the people that paid money to do it, so Alpha may come before the completion of cities and the perception system but who knows?
edit: In my opinion the more people keep paying $1,000 to do pAlpha, the longer before Alpha will launch. *shrug* If people kept paying me several thousand dollars every couple of months I wouldn't be in a rush to let people play for free either.
Personally I don't understand the mentality of "I was super excited/interested in this but it is taking too long to come out and if it takes a couple more years I won't care anymore." I can't think of a game I was excited to hear about only to ignore it years later when it released...heck I am still waiting on Star Citizen (and I suspect I will be for years to come) and I am very excited about the game but I don't follow the news for it at all. Also, it isn't like the "itch"/niche this game satisfies is being filled elsewhere nor do I see anything in quite the same realm on the horizon.
I recommend taking a break from following Pantheon for a while and just check up on it in 6 months or so if your anticipation is getting the better of you.

Yes, you probably will be waiting for SC for a long time.
Difference here, the guy running the show and grabbing all that cash for SC had never built a game. And has largely squandered a huge amount of money now.
This team (well the top guys) have built a couple MMOs already. And are just creating a 3rd iteration of the original two versions.
But the big issue with MMOs is content. Once you get the mechanics largely hammered out, creating loads of mmo world to run around in and populate it with monsters, items, quests, etc. Takes lots of time, lots of people.
This team is not that socially concious, they do not do as well a job as other indy studios in keeping the potential players looped in. But they also do not do the worst job, some studios are horrible at social interaction. But, I also think they like keeping much of everything a mystery as well. They are old school and do not want to give anything away if possible.
And with essentially ALL aspects of the game still in flux, it makes no sense to tease out info that may change. Nobody wants another No Man's Sky debacle.
When they talk, it's more about concepts and ideas. And frankly all or none of that may ever make it into a game.
What they do know is what they have already built, meaning their previous games. They know what they liked and what they are going to rebuild.
I would say at this point content building is a HUGE part of what they are trying to do. The tools are better today than they have ever been, but it still takes time.
Pantheon will always be a wip, new content to be added over the years, more maps, zones, etc.
Ok I like to look at this from the stand point of a view from a few years ago. The Footage Brad had put out for the Kick Starters was very rough and I look at it now it’s a vast improvement. Do they have work to do? Yes, but that should be a given. Have they come a long way? Yes. It’s a building process that takes time and patience on everyone’s part. Do I like the decisions I see sometimes? No, but that is the beauty of a game in development. Its this constant flow of different parts and processes and its always in flux. A build may go well, or it may not but that is part of the process. What people perceive as a negative or slow may not be the case at all. Way too many variables at play to have a clear understanding of the issue. I know I get excited/upset at all sorts of things the VR is doing but I am not in the inside and can’t see what the challenges or victories are. I understand that.
As for a statement on the “state” of the game? I think they are moving forward at a pace they can handle. Is it fast enough or do we as a community have enough information? I can say no but we are an insatiable bunch to be honest. We love our games and are stupid passionate at times.
I keep my hope fire lit and protected and think they VR team will get there we just have to be patient. I can’t control Brad or anyone one on that team all I can do is contribute my thoughts good or bad and hope they are listening. I am not a VIP but I do voice my thoughts and I think VR needs that interaction.
Just thoughts on the subject and I think they are moving the game along at their pace. Keep Pushing Brad!
