We hear all sorts of words to describe and categorise gamers from the gaming media but what about you, what category of gamer do you consider yourself to be a part of when you play MMORPG's?

For example, do you min-max, do you like helping others, do you like to socialise and play casually, are you a more serious or hardcore type of player or are you considered a leader?

Describe for me in your words the type of player you consider yourself to be.

I am pretty much all of the above. I like to make my character as strong as possible. I love exploration and finding those new exp hot spots. My friends and I like to challenge ourselves tackling content others might not. Or perhaps trying it in different ways outside the norm. I can be hardcore at times but enjoy the casual side of things as well. I love clearing into an area and seeing a group that has wiped and help them get back on their feet. I strive to be the player that when you get invited to a group then leave the group says " that guy was good". And not just in skill level but on a social level.

Games these days have lost the sense of reputation. Or the sense of accountability. Back in the day if you had the label of server "insert profane name here" it made your life difficult in a group based game. Reputation mattered! In the current era of insta que and cross realm grouping players can be the biggest "insert profane name here" with out consequence. Community was another great aspect that made games like EQ great!

Well said.  The idea of accountability has been one of the greatest losses in the modern MMO imo.  This became so absurdly apparent to me after the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic.  Group roles, though present, meant very little.  Players would run in, start fighting mobs ahead of a tank, target random mobs with no rhyme or reason, with NO REPERCUSSIONS!  This is a serious issue in my eyes.

Older games like EQ and Vanguard utterly demoralized players for not respecting content, group roles and knowledge of classes/mobs.  Not to mention, a player like this would be scorned by the community for acting so inappropriately.  Sadly, because of the lowered difficulty of content these days one can't even effectively reprimand someone playing this way because the modern MMO never punishes them (ie they never die/group never wipes).

So I could not agree more with you @Raroic - this is definitely a play style principle I can relate to and hold at a premium.
