Its a tough pill to swallow at the time, but you take it on the chin, sincerely apologize and acknowledge your ridiculousness. I would probably offer to shame myself publicly with a zone wide shout to never group with me, lol. It will either be a funny story and laugh with some friends, or a learning experience about the people you were grouped with based on their reaction.
"Sorry. It was nice to meet you guys. I'm deleting this character now, its obviously buggy and randomly evacuates at the least opportune times."
add: "I vaguely remember Kilsin talking about this bug back when the game was in Pre-Alpha. It must still be a thing" :p
I would be embarassed, I couldn't apologize enough and if other group members wanted to intermittently raz me about it for the rest of the session I would have to chin-up and take it.
This actually happened somewhat recently, different scenario. In a hard place, just three casters(one of which was a necro- important) All we had to do was go 20 feet, a short cut, and we were done. Clear way, no monsters, just one or two to clear. So the necro, being such, kind of goes trapseing off and we think we need to follow, not knowing if he's pulling scouting or what. So we run after him non-invis and accidental roamers- start fighting- where'd those adds come from- I think we can manage-what the- was that a pop? FD failed. deaths deaths and deaths. Now we have to come in from the beginning and get back up here and everythig has respawned.
We did this three times! Necro kept calling it "that lousy shaman invis, just like a shaman" But we were mages, we had good invis. If he would have said something- you get the idea- lol. he kept it up so much that the other mage chimed in and said it was enough already but I understood his ire- he was a necro after all.
The other mage commented how he would trip over dragons nonchalantly not saying if we were to fight or not, running seemingly randomly instead of fighting through and keeping ahead of the spawns. I had to say privately thats because hes a necro, thats how they are, they get used to being alone and not working with others for almost all of their lives tackling way harder monsters alone. Its not something to chastise them for, its just how they are. By the end of the third hour we were quiet and concentrating, teeth clenched- to make it that last 20 feet, over that short cut, that was open, to finish that quest finally!. Seriously , we had to take a break afterwards, I never saw a group break up so fast. As soon as we were done, "okthanksbyedontwantloot" and I was friends with the mage!. We needed a whole day to decompress lol.
There is only one way to do it right - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XspDkqEtWFE - I've already started to practice.
Kilsin said:Scenario - You are clearing through a tough part of a dungeon when the group sets up camp to take a quick 5 min break, you start playing around with your abilities and accidentally "Evacuate" the group out of the dungeon, what do you do? #MMORPG #communitymatters
I would confess and do my outmost to get back to the original location. I might suggest another thing to do if there is not enough time to return.
For the next couple of times that I group up with them, I'll be extra friendly and help out where I can...if the evac meant a big loss of effort or quest updates.
Blame it on a bug, fell threw the word and ported us out..
doubt it would happen though usually a 10second + cast time on portals.
Ah yes, those were the good old days, I remember well we were set up in guk camping frenzied and about 20 minutes in the wizard blew it, yeah we were upset but after owning up to it ( we had to convince him not to leave because of the embarrisment, he was a good wizard! ) we headed back down... we had to run off some folks who tried to lay claim to it but they were cooperative when they heard what happened.
