((No need before greed.))
I can see both sides of this argument when it comes to items that can be traded or sold for real money.
But if any valuable gear drops that is bind on acquire it should *always* go to someone that can actually use it and *never* go to someone that could only sell it for a few coppers to a merchant.
Possible exception if it can be deconstructed into something very valuable but if the only use for it other than equipping it is that 10 copper sale to a merchant the default looting system *needs* to give it to someone that can use it.
Grimex - it is too early to be sure but you are probably right. I make the point I do because I do not want VR to ...overlook .... the need for a need/pass or need/greed system for those few very unique items. They will probably be important enough that they *should* trigger a "need" roll even if tradable items just trigger a greed/pass roll.
EQ looting is nice because great items were so rare that ninja looting gets caught immediately. I'm on the fence about this subject because I like forcing a roll versus letting players decide in the moment. If after the roll the winner want to give it to a friend great or other party member great, but its not fair to expect people to do the right thing in every situation. That is why a forced roll is best in my opinion. It keeps people honest without stopping goodwill.
WoW's system is the best, switchable by the leader to need/greed; round robin; FFA; or master looter. Then all you twits who want to waste an afternoon grinding for a rare gear upgrade only to watch it disappear to the first selfish tard who prioritieses his gold over your gear upgrade can have the 'fun' you so richly thus deserve, while the rest of us can play like proper grown ups.
Honestly you're a confusing bunch. Spend ages talking about community and being nice to each other nfor a change, and then want to be able to ninja other peoples' gear.
