Just being honest here..
I didn’t post on forums at all in the Classic days, but given what I read on them (and what my RL friends were saying as well as others in game) the biggest challenge in my eyes will be for the game makers to not water down an MMO like this one over time. That has been the trend in MMO’s like this that I’ve either played or read about. Ultimately, listening to the whiners (the few) lead to thousands and millions of people unsubscribing because the games became not fun anymore.
VR is doing great. My hope for Pantheon is that VR will bolster up this game over time rather than water it down. Expansions for strengthening the vision; not lessening it. Staying true to the vision will be my main concern, but there is plenty to feel optimistic about. Go VR!

I don’t even know what Fortenite is. Get him over here!!! ;)
I‘m trying to convince my sister to play again. Old EQ was the only (and final) MMO she ever played Lol.
Finding time to play is not that much of a problem for me - at least initially. When the game is new, it is easy to put other "less important" things aside :) What I find much more difficult is justifying (to myself) spending a lot of time in the game once I get to max level, and obtained "most" of the good gear for my class. Then it is often the question - should I spend X hours camping to get a marginal upgrade for one slot (and I don't even need the exp from all the killing)? Or should I rather clean up in my house, watch a video for a change, or play another game for a bit?
I also find it difficult to deal with (assumed) expectations of other players. For example, these days I prefer to play shorter sessions (2 hours or so). In EQ that means that I will potentially break a nice group if I play an important role like healer or tank, and have to leave. I guess many players expect others to have enough time when they join a group. Leaving early repeatedly might lead to a poor reputation. Although Pantheon promises that it will be better suited to those shorter play times, I think this problem may still be quite common.
The biggest challenge?: Sticking to my initial game plan/strategy.
Other challenges ingame would be:
Finding a proper UI that fits my character's class.
Finding the balance between spending time crafting and adventuring.
Preventing losing myself in calculating loottables and crunching numbers.
Taking the time to read the story, instead of just clicking until I get my quest updates.
also not being tempted to switch class every time I see someone from another class do something cool hehe. I will go in this game same way I went into EQ: I will not read up on classes etc. I will create my character just by reading what the game inform me off at creation (well of course I have a good idea for most classes) but I like to find out that this other class can cast that spell while playing the game.
My biggest challenge/concern will be finding groups in general. As I stated in past posts, my work week changes daily. So I may not always have a steady community of players I get to know.
The thing that killed my Everquest experience was the last 6 months to a year around omens of war I believe was logging on, spending the time running to a specific zone, spending 1.5 hours spamming /ooc Level 90 Ranger LFG, finally get in a group only to kill for 15 minutes then disband, and I'm back to the 1.5 hours of spamming lfg. Granted by OoW, the population started to steadily decline which might have been one of the reasons why I couldn't find a group, but all in all, that was the reason why I quit.
I'm honestly hoping you guys are aware of this issue and make it easier for players to find groups of adventurers. I'm sure we all can agree we DO NOT WANT GROUPFINDERS as defined in todays standards. But something like what traditional Everquest had where you had the /lfg and you could write a little note as to what you wanted to do, or in town have some sort of bounty board where you could post LFG or groups could do the same.
People on my prior posts claim "we don't wany ANY type of group finding" which is quite silly because Everquest even had the /lfg. Others say well all you need to do is meet people and get to know them, then you'll get a group. That's a nice thought that might work in lala land, but this is the real world. You can't "get to know people" if they are busy grinding away, or simply low populated for the current time you play.
There can be things that aid people in that classical Everquest feel while completely staying away from WoW's groupfinding aspect.
