This.. pretty much. Bards and Necromancers will be important additions to the game. Necromancers will likely fill the ‘next’ pet class. There will already be plenty of pet classes at that point.
@Xilshale
I entertained a Support/CC version and a pure pet centric DPS version.

Remember all those ppl butthurt over the Direlord reveal?
This isnt other games, its it's own thing.
I said ’likely’ .. if Necromancers are like how they’ve been in anything from Diablo to Everquest. Honestly, I’d be surprised if Necromancer doesn’t have a pet of some sort. I was referring to ‘Necromancer,‘ but if we have ‘Blood Mage’ here, that would be fun as well.
Nothing surprised me at all about the Dire Lord not having a pet.. it’s not a Shadow Knight after all.
I realize this is Pantheon and it will be great. Pantheon is also the spiritual successor to ’Classic Everquest‘ - as Camelot Unchained is the spiritual successor to Dark Age of Camelot. It’s just how it is; the devs of each made those previous games & have said this themselves. There will be some inspirations of course.

Well, the SK's pet was a really poor design due to level difference. A weak but same level pet would have worked waaay better but the idea was to be a half necromancer back then, and thus using downgraded spells, which gave little troubles untill the low level pet kicked in...
I think no one will miss them, truly, but I would have done with a cool Bloodfiend scaled to my own level.
Well not that it cant be done, but a Necromancer without a pet just wouldnt be a Necromancer IMHO

Prepare to be totally disappointed. Beastlords aren't even on the drawing table as far as we know..and that very class has been mentioned routinely for nearly 5 years now.
I did not like the BL class. It basically ruined the uniqueness of Shaman (Buffs/Slow), Mage (Pet), and Monk (shared equipment/FD) class by almost being as good as those three classes in their respective areas. There are also some traditional PnP Lore (EQ foundation was D&D/MUDS) area's why BL should never of been similar to Monks.
It would be like a Paladin being almost as good as a Cleric and almost as good as a Warrior.
I don't mind hybrid classes, in fact, I like them. I just like Hybrid classes that know their role and suffer the consequences of hybridization, not just the benefit. BL only had benefits. In classic RPING, hybrids had many penalties to make up for the benefit of multiple class skills, and that's the way it should still be.
I know there are plans to add Bard but, really, 12 (or 13) classes is a lot of choice. Any semblance of balance or uniqueness among the classes is already going to be difficult. BLs never really added all that much anyway, only detracted from those classes from which they borrowed abilities.

Could be "pets" that are used as a siphoning resource to funnel HP/mana/stats to other group members and/or to grapple/CC enemies instead of anything like Summoner pets.

That made me LoL. I can see a D2 Necro running around with all those pets lol. That would be funny! :)
