You think you are Prince or something? Like we have to turn our heads when you walk down the east common tunnel? That is what it is... I'm just looking at you, not like I could dig through your bags. I'm just busting balls, but I honestly never understood why people got upset about it, just me. If I recall didn't they change that where you could not inspect if they had the /roleplay tag on??
As a roleplayer, depending on the character I may be currently playing, yes it could be seen as disrespectful or rude. I mean, in real life would you walk up to someone you didn't know who was standing nearby in a coversation and start eyeballing their clothing closely? Yes, yes, us role players are weird like that. Asking is as polite in a game as it is in the real world.
"Hello, I love your jacket. What is it and where did you get it?" is much more polite than walking up behind me, yanking my collar down and reading the brand without saying anything to me as I stand there in shock that someone just touched me without permission.
Interesting, as I read this I was thinking that the act of inspecting someone (say in an Inn for example) could be an excellent role play technique in itself. Hrm.
I certainly would love to see a bio page for players myself.
