it doesn't matter what they do, they will never please everyone.

So in EQ I used to camp gators in SRO and Orcs in East Commons. Neither camp dropped a single thing but were low risk, but Good exps.

i used to go to Befallen. I don't remember getting a single drop from the dungeon, but it was SO Stupid fun, it ended up being my favorite dungeon ever. I always couldn't wait for lev 5-6 so I could run straight to Befallen to get a group.

Why will people NOT do that again???

All these people that are asking: What do i do if I can't get a group?  You try to get a group anywhere there are exps. Not every leveling hour has to be "because the Loots"

Of course everything will be camped. I just hope Pantheon has MORE stuff to do that BRK and one more dungeon.  There needs to be like 10 dungeons that range from 5 to 50

Yes please I wish I could like this post!!! The part I bolded, is what I hope happens, honestly I believe named mobs should give absolutely no exp, grouping and leveling shouldn't be about the loot you get in the process. Hell in ffxi, you never grouped with randoms in the intention of getting loot, Exp groups were about getting the most efficient exp possible. Named mobs were avoided when going after exp, the risk of a possible wipe was enough of a deterent.

I find it a bit funny that if you like somethng its looking through rose colored glasses. Nostalgia is an over used word here and its sometimes used as an insult.

As for this topic there will be leap-frogging in almost every situation outside dungeons or in. Group 1 will be killing mob A while group 2 sidesteps them to work on mob B further in until they get to whatever goal they were working towards. IS that so bad?

I am presuming that you know what the term PRE-ALPHA means.  And the fact that they only have a couple of zones to be able to test in.  You're going to get "collisions" in them.  That is to be expected.  You're borrowing trouble.  How about you worry about it if it's still a thing into beta.

You're taking something that is not completed, hell it's barely started, and basically calling it crap.

Can we please stop saying "BUT IT'S IN PRE-ALPHA!! DUH!!" With that sort of mentality why even have conversations at all? Just delete the forums and pray that they get everything right 100%.

Thank you.  And yet, the first reply to my thread, in which I just want to talk about a game I like, was basically telling me to put a sock in it and carry on soldier.

I never said it was bad.  If anything I said it as a warning for 95% of the forum population who seem to remember EQ as a absolute fairy tale.  Were there good times, good memories, and good people, sure yes.  Same as their were good times, good memories and good people when I went through boot camp over 20 years ago. But I can sure as hell tell you it also hurt.   We stop remembering the bad and focus on positive memories.  (Thats some sort of medical fact that deals with the human emotions, look it up, fading affect bias).  So what I'm getting at is, as excited as everyone is about this game, times have changed.  The pedestal almost everone here is holding Pantheon up to is impossible and that things are not like they were, and nothing is ever going to be as good as your first time.

Boss mobs, mini boss mobs usually have had the best loot being the harder kills. Killing trash should reward the same loot? in MMO experience no, but that doesnt mean and we have no idea if random 1% chance a nice drop can drop off of trash mobs. We do not know the loot tables yet.

It also doesnt mean they might not change it on release. Also its cool to be able to rush to a boss mob and kill it, the only thing i do not want is RMT being KSed when your engaging it.

/taunt on... wipe the other raid, seems to be EQ's way in TLP servers... a few guilds doing it to wipe the other raid engaged so they can KS it being HP are low. Its cheezey way to play and one of the top end raiders are doing it in videos i seen. Hopefully they do not come here.

We saw it in lasts nights stream of community members.

It may have been in jest.  A little, and it also held some validity, a little.

"Quick get to the boss before that other group does!"  Was (almost) an exact quote from the stream last night.

As much as we love "remembering" the good ole days, times have changed and everyone knows where the important stuff is, it's on the bosses and last night was a microcosm of what the game in large part is going to be about.

Endearing as it may be, hearing Cohh talk about sitting on just grinding mobs endlessly for hours is not how anyone is going to play the game anymore.

On a positive note, the crew last night did A LOT better as a group than any of the other streams AND talking to the 2nd group to kill the last boss at the end was a nice gesture (one that will NEVER happen in live) only to be ruined by the ninja looting as soon as it died.  (Not pointing fingers or saying anyone is to blame, just this is the community we have and this is the new old world we live in.)

I still play eq and still sit on mob spawns for hours and that's on top servers and live servers, so yes it still a thing and by the way they have the mobs set up in these dungeons and how quickly they go up in level it will be a thing here as well simply becuase it either they are slightly below you from the mobs from behind you even in front of you and of you go past that your receiving your corpse.

I think one way to help keep things spread out is to have some bosses/rares have random spawn locations. Some bosses it makes sense to have in a specific locations.. ie the King should be in his throne room. But Captain X could spawn anywhere in the dungeon, or anywhere in the part of the dungeon that is that level range. This would work in the outdoor areas as well. Basicly, if you are in a group camping anywhere for exp.. you have a chance to get a random rare/named spawn where you are, even if its some random outdoor camp, or somthing you run into as you and your group are exploring.

It is a bit more specific than that. The rose colored glasses comment is usually used for memories of EQ, often along with the word nostalgia.

It is human nature to remember something we really liked and spent so much time with fondly. And to defend every aspect of it. Even those parts that really weren't very good (no game is perfect at everything and many things can be done frar better now than in 1999). Some of us try to point out that maybe everything in vanilla EQ isn't the way Pantheon should go, even though quite a few things *are* the way Pantheon should go.

Insult? No not in any slightest way. One can disagree with friends and allies (we are all on the same side) without being insulting.
