Where does the adventure begin?

I would love to watch a stream of a lvl 1 character starting out in pantheon, getting his guild tunic, collecting some hides for some tailoring, getting some newbie weapon off some skeleton, doing a little fishing, finding the spell merchant, meming a spell, casting his first pet, falling off a wizard spire, falling in off the dock drunk and drowning, hitting lvl 5 and venturing away from the initial rat, bat, area and getting smashed by a kobold. joining his very first group at lvl 6 at the kobold tent camp. As it sits right now i would rather do gnome races in an unfinished pantheon for 6 hours a day than play any other mmo. The world is shaping up nicely. The newbie experience in everquest was truly very fun. I have played every everquest progression server so far. I play counterstike almost everyday and just do round after round of killing Bots. Just give me a cool 3d evironment and some opposition to fight and im happy. I would pay a subscription to toy around on a pantheon test/development server. Im curently toying around in Darkfall rise of the fallen, wow,  everquest as well as counterstrike and farcry 5. Does the adventure begin when you run up to someone and start to talk to them? i logged onto a character i havent played in years in everquest that was last logged out in karnors castle. I log in and their is a guy killing drolvargs at the entrence. First thing i did was run up to him and start talking. The original kings quests games had you typing dialogue to npc's to get information. Everquest, deus ex, and fallout 1 and 2 also had this. In wow there is only an accept and decline button. Rare mob, Rare loot, exp camps what more could you want>? CB tower, trainer hill anyone?

A "beginner's journey" style of stream is something that's definitely on our radar. There would be a lot of merit in doing something like this, hopefully we can find a good opportunity to do it soon :)

Personally I don't want to see this and would do my best to avoid a stream like this. I love the moment I enter a new game complete with mystery and experience those moments sight unseen. Between game trailers and movie trailers 1, then 2, then final, the internet has become one big spoiler. Don't get em wrong, I have enjoyed the current streams because I have no frame of reference outside the game map, but to show the game from the start for me removes some of the mystery, and I miss mystery. :D

Im so glad they havent done it yet. Shows theyre not going to be one of those MMOs that spend all their time refining and polishing the first 20 levels before it all just falls apart somewhere mid-game and its easy to tell it was rushed in comparison.

..... Anyone who followed and played SWTOR should know what im talking about and all they pretty much did was show off the starter zones.

They could make it dramatic by having it completely quiet, no player sound and all from First person view.

Have it from each race, but you would not know what race it was- each person doing the same thing at the same time. We would see no NPC's except for the monsters in the newbie area.

A clever editor could cut is so that as one first person view cast a fishing rod-it would cut to the other race first person view at the end of the cast and the "day in the life" would continue form there. Music builds and the first person scene cuts to third person arial swirl around to front so you see what the character looks like with their home city in the background-cut to next environment (which we have seen by now through the first person eyes from all the editing above) arial swirl to next race. Music louder- at max production volume as all races are revealed to gather underneath a fading-in Logo of "Pantheon"

My view of SWTOR is different, Kayo. I think they had all the zones very nicely polished for single player leveling and stories at release. Almost bug-free too. The one thing they didn't have was much of a crafting system or things to do with other players but as a single-player MMO it was all great.

Obviously I don't want 20 polished levels and then it falls apart, but it makes sense to polish the first 10 or 20 levels more than what comes later if there is only so much you can do. Firstly, that is what dictates whether new players will like or dislike the game. Secondly, with slow leveling you can polish middle and late game zones before most of us get there. Level 20-30 shouldn't be a buggy piece of crap but I would prefer 20-30 being just "good" and 10-20 being "excellent" to the other way around.

I've always felt that the adventure begins at the character creation screen.

While what I am about to say doesn't involve a stream, this discussion made me think of asking the devs to consider adding a starting out type of quest for new players where you travel around your character creation area, hitting points of interest, gathering a few items (harvesting and combat), perhaps some basic crafting at the end of which you get a 6 slot, no trade bag. Perhaps it could be a progression thing where you first get a 2-slot bag, then 4 etc. I suggested a bag because everyone needs them and as a noobie as you really want to pick up everything that drops in order to sell it and get some badly needed copper pieces.. It might be a fun way to help introduce a player who is new to an area , learning where the safer areas are etc.

These forums really need just a "thumbs up" or "like" button on posts. Because I have nothing to add except a "YES!"
