Concerning Giants

So the news letter had a Rogues Gallery revealing quite a bit of lore on "The Giganaa"

The first most obvious thing I saw was the varied body styles in the three pieces of concept art they included. I have mentioned before my surprise at how close this team hits there concepts so I'll really look forward to that.

They mention the Giants natural resistance to harsh climates. The also mention they don't handel temperature change well and give an example of pulling a giant from one area (Roans) to another (Kanga Sands) could it be that complicated to kill the things or is this just a more colorful way of simply suggesting frost spells on fire giants and fore on frost. I AM hoping VR has something less basic than that, based on them wanting to emphasize PVEnviroment.

"A scant two Giants have been known to shake the foundations of large buildings or fortifications by themselves, either with the force of their fists on the ground or by taking turns leaping into the air."

Ok, lol now that will be a site too see!

Based on the info of there populations in "SCATTERED AND SCARCE" I expect not to see an area such as Giant Hill in the mountains of Rathe (EQ reference) but it seems they will be spread out in group size camps of 3 or 5 giants. Good call VR if I'm reading that right.

An "Unknown Enemy" from the "The War of the Outsiders"? I wonder when and if this will ever show up? I didn't get enough info to form much of a opinion on this tid bit of lore.

Anybody else have any thoughts on this months Rogue Gallery?

Somewhere in between. It doesn't make any sense to literally pull a giant from the Roans to Khaga Sands. In fact, you couldn't actually do that due to zone lines. But instead of bringing the giant to the climate, you can (and should) bring the climate to the giant. Moreso than just using ice spells, you could have a Druid create a temporary localized Frigid climate to significantly debuff the giant! I'm sure it would be possible to kill them with plain old swords and shields. But if you can make the climate more uncomfortable for them, I bet it would be quite a bit easier.

I agree that giants should be quite rare. That makes it all the more exciting and memorable when you see one towering way off in desert horizon.

I would like to see giant toes carried over as a thing. Wether its used in crafting acclimation armor, or a quest component.  I think this also makes room for decayed giant toes from a giant carcass that is haunted by the ghost of the giant (a much weaker version)

    This isn't really related, but it does remind me of this video;

    Why not giant fingers.

Rogue's Gallery said: In many cases there are less than 10-15 Giganaa on a single continent, with a regional expectation of 3-5 total. To that end it is important to note that the term “Giant population” is considered a misnomer by some scholars, as so few sites hold groups of a size worth calling a population.

I would think this would mean you would not be seeing 3-5 giants at the same camp. There is only 3-5 in an entire region. I'm guessing you will find these guys alone most of the time. And since there is only 2ish continents so far on Terminus, that means there is only 20-30 Giants total in the known world. Chances are there will not be generic 'Hill Giant' or 'Frost Giant' names. Each and every Giant will likely be known specifically by his/her name and have an entire Lore behind them for players to learn.

I can find Khaga Sands on the map but not Roans. Do you know where Roans is Baz? I was thinking of the Druid Spells as well as climates.

"Nonetheless, Giant hunting is a profitable business for a brave, insane, bloodthirsty and callous few."

Are they going to be raid/world bosses or regular groupable named-eventually soloable?

It's not labeled on the map, but according to lore, it's the mountain range on the northern part of Kingsreach, which houses the Silent Sanctum.

It could be fingers. Toes seem to be cute and gnarly at the same time, whereas fingers are just fingers. Although, giant fingers could be usefull linked in an emote, a raid leader asking "who did that!" /em soandso points a "giant finger" at ....

But considering how rare they seem to be, just to even get some giant fingers would be huge. (the metaphor was unintentional)

"SCALES OF WAR. One of the oldest pages in Giant history is so tattered and frail it is almost indecipherable. This page speaks of a war between the Giganaa and another great power, a conflict that wrought disorder and death on a scale that dwarfed the Revenant and the Deicide War. This conflict, which they call The War of the Outsiders, was waged against an enemy unknown to modern historians. Yet for the combatants the effect of this struggle was quite clear: widespread cultural devastation, with each side emerging as perilously weakened."

I kind of wonder if there is a bean hidden here in "Scales of War". I'm imagining the unknown enemy just might be the Dragons/Reignborn, especially given the power of their magic "language of unparalleled arcane encryption" which could likely erase mention of them in any texts and possibly bind the Giants from speaking of their involvement.

It's funny you mention dragons.  They've said that they have a huge place in the lore.

There better be at least 1 raid mob giant.   That's all I'm saying.
