Definitely the crafting from FF14  is what I would like to see .

It is the best compromise between useless complexity and too strong interprofession constraints (like EQ2 and Vanguard) and the primitive "click to combine" (like EQ) .

The only reservation I'd have against taking the FF14 crafting over as is is :

    - better crafting quests . Those in FF14 are really, really childish . Lotro had the best crafting quests I've seen .

    - better recipe acquisition . Going to a vendor and just click "buy" on a book misses a whole world of experimenting, questing, learning and discovering new recipes (in this compartment classic EQ was not so bad as only the very simplest recipes were known by default) .

     1.   A reason for PVPers to come together and be diplomatic.  A common enemy they must face together or be defeated.  The Pvp community has become so toxic because it's always Us VS them.  I want to see developers with a broader horizon than that.  I just want to see players have a reason to be good to eachother again.  I don't actually PVP much but when I do, I always remember why I don't like it.

I don't think it's impossible to add a system in a game to bring what would otherwise be a divided community.  I just think no one has done it yet.  =)

    Yes this!

Correct me if I'm wrong Gamerchick but I too would like to see a PVP server where PVP was available but discouraged. A place between PVE and full on PVP. Where players didn't PVP until that one a$$ griefer came along that really need it!

If you attack a player you would take a Racial as well as a Class Faction hit at the very least. There could be a general player faction as well... somebody that went around killing indiscriminately would gain negative player faction and be KOS to players giving a +1 player faction to anyone who killed them... if they are in +player faction then you would take a hit if you attacked them. Something like that... discouraged but available pvp.

On the flip side I am imagining- Skar starting city and surrounding area outside the gates.... or rather camp area....maybe the whole zone is PVP (like an EQ arena) and guards don't help newbies. You zone in- and you enter a PVP area; in the city, in the homes outside the city- whole zone (could fit "Rust" enthusiasts here). Need faction but can also be ganked by another player or outright killed bu guards without facton. And live the way of the Skar.

Diificult to explain in english but  let's try :

From Eq2 (at the  beginning mainly) the  what we  used to call "opportunité héroique" in french (maybe be everyone knows those OH :p)

It was great as each archetype had to cast a category of spell / or ability and had a timer to cast it in order to have some effects like group heal, more damages....

It was great to me because we could check who was sleeping, afk....and  wizz couldn't slack much /evil :p

You're referring to, as said in English, Heroic Opprtunities. I think those were a pretty neat idea, but implemented poorly. I'd like to see those make a come back of some kind, but have a bit more meaning and substance behind them.

I'll echo someone else's thought. The Music system in LOTRO.

I played on the Landroval Server, one of the Official RP servers. While I've never been much of an RP'er myself, I've found the population of those servers align more with my easy-going playstyle. The people that say "whoopsie daisy" when there's a bad pull, instead of "omg lrn2play nub".

Anyway, on that server there was a Kinship (Guild) called The Lonely Mountain Band. They were known throughout the server for putting on concerts outside the Prancing Pony, and were available to rent for the evening at any parties or events other guilds planning. For a time there, I created a Kinship called Retainers of Dol Amroth. On our 1 year anniversary, we threw a party and I hired The Lonely Mountain Band to play outside of our Guild Hall. They played a bunch of songs, but I recall most vividly their rendition of Stairway to Heaven. As the end of the song, the Hobbit off to the side just wouldn't quit clanging on the cow bell. Maybe you had to be there, but it was hilarious. It was an amazing experience, great fun, and definitely something unique.

That's the kind of feature that adds a little something to the game.

I know its not out yet but I'm stupid excited about C.U.B.E. for Camelot Unchained.  Being able to design the structure and the appearance of buildings and or other crafted items then translate that into an in game object with the appropriate materials is thrilling for someone like me.

    Cross-posting from my Facebook comment.

Rogue flechettes and darts from Vanguard.

Rogues weren't just for backstabs. We had emergency utility that came straight from pickpocketed materials. Of course you wouldn't go primary pulling with flechettes unless you wanted the whole zone, and you weren't spamming them in groups. But in a wipe or fleeing situation, all melee snared 90% for a few seconds... yes, please. Fantastic way to make pickpocketing integral to play rather than obsolete by level 30 when the copper just isn't worth the time.

Three Factions, each with their own PVE only zones that no other faction has access to. But they do have PvP zones as well that have PvP objectives. (DAoC).

Doesn't necessarily have to be factions; it can also be alignments; Good, neutral, evil or even red, green, blue or other concept.

If I may so bold as to offer an opinion:

Mechanic that already exists - boss/raid content on demand like pocket bosses and alien invasions in Anarchy Online.

Mechanic I wish existed - faction matters like in EQ1, but even zones like Hate and Fear can have people become non-KoS if they do enough service for those factions, like how you could become max ally with Queen Di'Zok in Chardok and actually get quests/shop/bank in Chardok. An entire lifetime of killing in the name of Hate and Fear should gain youfavor enough to walk in those zones and have quests/shopping/banking.

This again is just my opinion, mine alone, and does not represent the opinion of anyone else, nor does offering my opinion suggest that any other opinion posted by anyone else is incorrect in any way, shape or form.

That's some kind of good idea, you cited chardok but the same applied with Thurg/Kael/Skyshrine which during raid progression ended going from one to an other. In the end the problem was that you ended forced to go back and forth for some quest rewards, but that was just a sketch.

I totally want factions that matter and are rewarding. This is my one wish. Factions that matter.

I agree with adding the Vanguard Crafting!!  It is, by far the best crafting in any game I have played.

I also, would love to see the Vanguard crafting/harvesting clothes that change out depending on what you are doing.  I loved outfitting my crafter/harvester/adventurer.

The work order system was also fun in Vanguard as it was a way to level up crafting, and get awesome crafting tools.  Really handy for just starting since you only had the junk you bought from the trainer.

FFXIV fishing is the best fishing I've seen in a game.  The different bait types and fishing styles were awesome.  I also liked Vanguard fishing, which was challenging and rewarding.  I remember winning a fishing contest someone held and getting a giant yacht for my character.  So much fun!

Servers where you can see GM's running around or grouping with folks. Was always a pleasant experience talking to GM's in person rather than through a ticket system. First dealing with one left me in awe looking at his Light Saber and left me with a feeling that they actually cared aboot their player base once the issue was resolved in old eq1.

I would love to see a system that let you progress from xp after hitting max level. For me this prolongs the game by a LOT! I'm not a player that spend much time on alts, crafting I do sometimes but my main focus is grouping and raiding.

I like how eq did it

If I could request one feature it would be a /loc-less game. Kind of a feature by omission, so I'm not sure it applies, but that's my one thing.

I don't think it's feasible with the direction this game is going, but I was absolutely spoiled with the inclusive quest cinematics from SWTOR. It really made me feel like I was watching my character interact with the NPC's and sometimes group members. SWTOR is also a very "on-rails"/theme-park MMORPG, so I don't expect something like this to be viable for Pantheon at this time.  :)

Swtor baseline game and stories were really great and awesome, however they failed doing something interesting with later expansions, because they already made a full story from 1 to 50 in the original game. (and they had no budget at all for expansions too :/ ). I agree it was great, as a kotor inspiration, but for a mmorpg it raises a lot of problems beeing the "alone hero".

I think I'd go for higher level mobs roaming lower level areas as in EQ. I did enjoy goingback in later levels.

SWTOR is probably the best single player MMO ever made.

FFXIV with all of its weaknesses also did a superb job with the storyline and cutscenes for the storyline

I don't think lots of story belongs in a game like this because ultimately it's going to get consumed and they can never make enough. Let the players write the story. There can obviously be lore and all that, but an actual plot? No thanks.

not the one thing, but something that i really liked as someone with trust issues:

a trade window you can craft. think eq2 had it where someone opens a window and puts their rare components in the crafter crafts the item and the customer can see the items are actually being used and the actual results. I want to give crafters the benefit of the doubt, but when they say, 'crap it failed.' I cannot help but wonder if they just stole the rare items.

That doesnt matter if a craft is automatically passed. which leads to a complex crafting system, my favorite was SWG, but vanguard was good too. (SWGs would have been torturous had it not been for the ability to create schematics allowing for 100 crafts to get the perfect craft knowing you will be able to make 100 copies of the perfect -until the next resource pop- item.)

honorable mention to customizable housing interiors. again, SWGs was rather intricate, but VG gave good enough.
