if the answer is under NDA , then ignore the question,
but i recall that in one of the streams one of the devs told the number of the pre-alpha testers and that they are going to increase it even more for stress testing very soon.
i just cant find it for some reason (maybe it was in my imagination? )
so does anyone remember if they released the number of pre-alpha testers who participate in the game testing?
thanx
if you followed the Newsletter in one of the PAX hands on (follow the link of MMORPG.com) there was also a number of testers. and surprise Bazgrim is right.
I recall close to a 1,000 at one point in a stream or read somewhere.
Zeem said:Thats actually more then what I would of guessed. Intresting. I guess the testing session are split up in groups of testers because 1000 people all on at once seems to be quite alot of and singles there might be more content then just what we have been shown.
Didnt they have multiple servers shown during the one stream. Is this 1000 split amongst 2 or 3 servers.
Although they may have 1000 registered testers - that doesn't in any mean that all 1000 are on at the exact same time - you may be lucky to get 50% of that number on. I'm sure the number increases during the weekend and during weeknights, but - during the day, i'm sure it's a low number. And you have to take into consideration time zones, and players from other countries, etc. And the duration of people being on is generally going to be about 2 or so hours during a week day/night and several hours at a time on the weekend. Then there's server downtime, maintenance, updates, etc. There's a whole shebang of things going on.

True but people did pay $1000+ for access so I'm sure they are modivated to be on as much as possible lol
I don't think a lot of them paid for the sunhunter pledge, however the Pre alpha pledge was way lower than that before it was closed ( around 500 i guess).
There are also a lot of people that backed around the kickstarter period and I think pre alpha pledge weren't much expensive back then.

If you have some evidence to suggest that's happening, then by all means post it. If you don't then negative posts like this are really nothing but trolling. Honestly, if you think VR is this kind of scammy outfit then why would you waste your time here?

Not trolling. It's a legit question. don't like it. move on.
Testing timelines are usually based on production goals. They might extend the timeline based on business need which is in and of itself a value adding function, but not for any shenanigans like giving testers the best bang for thier buck. They have blocked out testing phases already for sure, but those are subject to change at any time. They probably won't shorten those phases just because they want to quadruple check everything.

There was nothing at all negative about his post or question. You need to relax lol I think alot of people have a similar question. By dropping 1000 dollars to help test the game I'm sure most testers would have been upset or disappointed if PA lasted 2 or 3 months.
I'm not at all saying this was the case and I believe they are going to release alpha the minute they are ready for it. But theres nothing wrong with posting a hypothetical question.

Purposely delay? I hardly think so. Do you code, have you developped your own game, do you know how long it actually takes to develop a game world? Sounds like none of the above.

If they have to wipe..they do. That means bye bye to the character you are testing with, and downloading new files to start again. Par for the course. Things pop up in testing that were unforseen, that too is par for the course. Better to find the bugs and anomalies now..instead of release day. Oh and I have been online gaming since the mid 1990's ..I have yet to see a "perfect" game that has no bugs. For that to happen, the programmer or coder would have to be perfect. Being that humans aren't perfect, that probably won't ever happen. :P

Posting a 'hypothetical question' is frequently what trolls do. It's the content of the question that determines if it's trolling or not.
I'm confident that if I posted a query about whether YOU weren't being open and aboveboard in your behavior here on the forums, you'd feel some negativity in my post :)
In my opinion, in the absence of any evidence to support the idea, the post made a clearly negative implication about VR 'shenanigans'.
Don't like my opinion, move on.
These are development forums, we are here to talk about the game, not attack each other...AND we ALL have the right to be here.
And from what I know from previous posts from Kilsin the community manager and the Devs, testing was planned for at least a year. Note that is not set in stone..depends what happens along the way. Could be quicker ..could be slower, the original statement was an estimate.
There are no nefarious things going on behind the scenes. Again this is old school testing..not a sneak peek like some other games like Rift have done. If you get in as a tester, you will be expected to provide feedback on the game world, provide bug reports and so on. And getting to know the other testers, grouping with them, carrying out requests from the Dev team will be part of it. :)
So being friendly to each other is a plan. :) hehe

I also thought this was a legit question and can honestly say that VR will go into alpha as soon as they feel the game is ready to go into alpha. I doubt very much they would delay it for any reason. We all know they have one shot at this. And we all want it to be the one heard around the world.

i don't have to have to code to ask a question. if my question offends you, move on. I have a legit question no matter if you like it or not. get over it.

This is interesting conversation to me. I wonder myself how much content is actually in the game at this point. If speculation is to be believed and alpha starts in December where we'll undoubtedly be expected to test all aspects of the game then I'd think much of the content would be in the game but not necessarily be feature complete until closer to beta.
