Solo Play?

Sorry if this has been brought up, and please feel free to link anything that may have speculation, etc. . But I am really curious about one thing in particular. . I am all down for group play, I in fact love it, and I see that it is a major driver for the game itself. Does that mean we will have a hard time soloing content and playing on our own, exploring and escaping dangerous situations? A lot of times I can only log in for an hour or 2 at a time and I would love the option to have to spend any amount of that time having to search for a group that may not want to take me based off my class choice. . Ya feel?
    Thanks all!

1.4 Will you be able to solo in Pantheon?
Yes. While most content will be designed for groups, there will typically also be content that is soloable. Some classes may solo better than other classes.

Welcome. The FAQ is a great place to start: https://www.pantheonmmo.com/game/faqs/

On that page, you'll find another answer that is particularly relevant to your question. Even if you can only log in for a couple hours, that doesn't mean you can't do group play either:

4.3 Will Pantheon require me to play for hours and hours or all night and all day to advance my character?

No. While the world of Terminus will consist of vast landscapes and epic dungeons, there is no reason to require players to play long, contiguous gaming sessions. Players will be able to play a couple of hours, logout, and return later to continue their journey. There will also be mechanics and features to both help people get together and group and also to make lasting friendships. To further facilitate this there will also be ways for players to keep their group together even if some members of the group can play longer than others or at different times.

Soloing will likely be a lot of fun and absolutely feasible when  you can't get a group. Obviously certain classes will be much much better than others, and given a certain level, certain classes will suck at it.

Most likely Pet / Utility type classes will be easiest to solo...

The ability to cause damage while staying out of range or have your pet take the damage allowing time to regen usually = best solo classes in a game played at this pace

That's something we won't really know until close to launch.  Some of the classes haven't been implemented yet and so much can affect the ability to solo:  range skills, health and mana regen, adjustments to DPS, AC and resistance tweaks, etc.

I'll bet they bring kiting back. So people who can kite like Wizards or Rangers or even reverse kiting Dire Lords.

There are, of course, two dimensions to how well a class can solo. One is whether the class can do it at all but the other is how slow/painful the process is.

A good tank or healer may be able to solo mobs, maybe several at the same time, but if it takes 15 minutes to kill a trash mob for almost no experience that class is not an acceptable solo class. In a game where classes have meaningful roles and are not intended to be able to fill multiple roles, it is highly likely that a healing or tank class will not be able to come even close to a true dps class in the amount of damage it deals out. Implicit in this is that, as it was back in the old days, tanks and healers are poor at soloing if they can do it at all. A class specializing in crowd control may have similar limitations on damage dealt.

So my guess is that you need a dps class. A pet class where the pet takes the damage. A ranged class where a melee mob is dead or almost dead before it gets to the character. A melee class with a good self heal or that can heal-up in some other way between fights so that xp per minute isn't pathetic.

I realize solo means solo, but i've found a consistent value in duel gaming in this genre/kind of game. Say, a tank and a healer team up together to do solo gaming.  It goes much faster and usually rewards both players with appropriete gear and whatnot...

Two are better than one. So, if you manage to make a friend, why not go it together rather than alone. You tend to die less often and the rewards are usually equal to solo gaming.

Obviously with this sort of game a team or full group is much better and I believe the strategies ramp up with group play as well. Full groups are where the real fun begins, but if you are going solo, get a friend to join you. You might be surprised at the fun you'll discover together.

    Dwarves rule !!!!!!!

There have been statements made that quad kiting intentionally won't be a thing...though of course standard kiting will be possible.
