Difference between a player-controlled world and "open worl

Okay, I'm pretty sure we all want Pantheon to be this immersive world with its own ACTUAL LORE, not just background garble like we've seen with other mmos, that openly caters to those wanting to get invested into more than just the gameplay and actually care about their guildmates and their character, but what would you as a community define as too open world? Like gross meme open world like Rust and what not, how would you go about adding in housing and farming - if those features make it in? Personally I'd play it like LotRO, but that's just me. How do you think you can implement really deep features without turning off those trying to get way from a "lmao just build your own world" kind of style?

VR isn't defining "open world" as something that hte players control and shape.  They are defining it as "if you can see it, you can go there" and "there is no instanced content".
