I am a sceptic and am a little worried this game might be just a massive elaborate scam to steal money.
I have been playing Path of Exile now for a few years and have bought a few suporter packs for that game because i think it was a brilliant idea and a great way to suport an online game.
If this game is for real i will definitly continue to suport it, but would like some assurance it is real.
I played WoW for 8 years and EQ2 for years also, and although i had a lot of fun i have become a bit disolusioned with MMOs of late.
So it would be nice to find somthing new and fresh.
It is for real in that there are a lot of excited people that have spent money to support it, the developers have received some serious funding apart from pledges here, and work is proceeding with testing expected to start soon.
That puts it head and shoulders above many crowdfunded efforts to start games.
It is not something you can play now or for a while other than as a tester if you pledge enough. Release or even any open beta is highly unlikely this year and not guaranteed next year though many of us have hopes for not *too* late in 2018.
So try and enjoy WoW or EQ2 or find a new MMO to tide you over until Pantheon is released. I finally got so tired of EQ2 I went to LOTRO which has far slower leveling and figure that will last me the rest of this year if I run enough characters.
Moved to "Off-Topic" as "News and Announcements" is for VR staff only, I leave it open so you folks can reply to our news and announcements but please do not create threads in there.
The game is real, we have various progression videos, screenshots and streams showing quite a large measurable improvement over each one prior and have done so for the last 3 or so years. Scepticism is healthy but there is no way for us to prove to you beyond any reasonable doubt that this is real until we can launch the game into testing so you can find out for yourself, which is something we are working hard on now.
Until then, you will just have to trust us and the continual progressive updates that we share, just please don't label us something negative based on the actions of other games or companies, which is a common mistake gamers tend to make these days and it can have very harmful and lasting effects that can not only affect the success of our game but also our community and both are important to us and the longevity of Pantheon.
Just as a note, the videos they are referring to are at this youtube channel.
If there's one thing we know, it's that Brad McQuiad has previously made some AMAZING video games. So some of us can easily put our trust in him.
If you're a supporter, you are better off supporting this game, then lets say Ashes of Creation. Reason being: The lead Dev (Brad McQuaid) has some major history/background in the gaming industry and making these wonderful creatures. Where as the lead dev/creative designer of the other game has legitimately 0 experience in game development.
If you watch some of Pantheon's twitch streams/youtube vids from the very beginning, you can actually SEE the progress they have made as well. You also hear them talk about some of their ideas they want to add into the game. Like their acclimation system. Basically, the whether of where ever you are at may affect you and your body, but there are things to help you in those kinds of environments. They later on show you a little of how this works. You don't get to see it in every environment yet, because the game is still in development, but it's in the game!
That's good news, because when some people talk about how amazing they want their game to be and all this content they want to add, they talk about adding some really big and exciting stuff. Stuff you haven't really seen before in a video game. And then they somehow forget to add the biggest thing that people were excited about in the game... Yet, they still take your money and release a game that is nothing of what they described (Very skeptical about kickstarter games now).
My suggestion, just look up the team involved in creating Pantheon. Some of them have a colorful background with game development, and some even have their own websites online; mostly just show casing their work as a resume for after a project is complete, but you can actually see what kind of work they do and such. The twitch streams will probably help the most as they actually stream a significant amount of their game considering it's only pre-pre-alpha. As well, they answer a signficant amount of questions within that time frame.
Some of the big things they mentioned in stream you might find interesting: Graphics will come, but its not a priority -- content is! It will be a pay to play game; this is huge because a lot of the free p2w games are falling apart and no one wants to spend $100's of dollars to win a game. This also helps with future funding so that we can see expansions and new content added into the game! If you're familiar with EQ1 or Vanguard, or maybe even EQ2, Pantheon is thought to be the unborn love child of EQ1 and Vanguard. It will have some of the same amazing stuff you loved about games back then, with some new content, and graphics that are hopefully up to date and pretty, but nothing like korean MMO's (BOOBS).

Stream partner: Cohh Carnage: this guy is a huge streamer they've been having with them on their adventures, he also has some of Pantheon's twitch streams you will want to see. It's cool to see the chat on the side too. Or you can go to their youtube, which is below.
Twitter They share other community stuff here, pictures, and just some fun basic questions for their fans to reply to.
Discord This leads to a forum post for the discord if you're interested. It is completely run by the community with some VR staff hopping in to say hi sometimes. If you have questions, some of these people may be able to answer. Or you could just theory craft, talk about other possible games to involve yourself with until Pantheon comes out, etc.
And the forums itself has a lot of good stuff too. There's some Dev Diaries, these guys share some of the stuff they are currently working on. You can see what it takes to create the landscape, shading/textiles, and even some Pantheon music has been made!
Classes here is a link to some of the classes they have gone more in depth with, but at the bottom you see the class/race matrix. This shows you which possible races you can play with the class(es) you're interested in!
Hope all of this helps. I think us fans are in good hands with Visionary Realms.
Absolutely real...no skepticism from me I've been here since Feb 2014, pledged in the summer of 2014 to become a VIP. I don't have a lot of money, so that's just how much I believe this game is going to be successful.
Lots of links and information on this site including a few former live streams and most recently with COHH participating in a stream of 3 hours. He's a well known streamer on you-tube and is quite enthusiastic about Pantheon. :)

Brad's "How to respond to Skeptics" post
This is actually how to respond to skeptics, but it might be good to read if you ARE a skeptic. I think I've seen another one of these posts floating around the internet by Brad, but he says its okay to be skeptical. It's okay not to be a fan of the game or support it the way its real fans do. The game is focused on a group of gamers and this game may not fit your criteria.
But to add to that, you never know what you like and don't like until you try it. Newsletters are released every month with updates and talks about upcoming streams and such. You don't have to come back every single day. Just check back in every month or so and see how its truckin' along.
This posts also leads to more of Brad's posts if you are interested in what he has to say himself. He's got some interesting topics/posts he's made and questions he's answered in more depth. Some are a pretty good read if you're really hyped for the game and want to get as much info as possible (that's what I'm doing right now).

This is a great post, fancy, thank you :)
