Favorite Store or Merchant?

I would like to see a Tavern, i could see this also having some other features that could be good with it like a LFG, or like a bounty collector that you could turn in Goblin ears or something like that for a lil bit of coin.

Btw I'm not referring to the WoW LFG interface either kind of like an Area that you would see and it would look like where people would post of help back in the medevil days, and you would go and look at it and see who was LFG and who were LFM, so you knew who to talk to for what your interested in

Don't forget those impulse buy items.  Pet treats, good luck charms, pickled halfling parts, latest edition of Grognak the Barbarian...

Everyone loves shopping for shiny new things, what type of Store or Merchant are you hoping will make it into Pantheon?

In locations where intelligent, societal NPC have their 'capital' or primary place where they live I want to see bankers and merchants of all types who, if you can manage to build adequate standings with them, will allow you access to their shops and banks.  The items they sell could include many common items seen in the world but there should be some things unique to those particular creatures.  Items which might have uses elsewhere.

As I said on Twitter, I'd like to see a tradeskill merchant where we can but all common materials to craft with.

Rares and uncommon could be found as we adventure.

I'd like to see merchants have some sort of faction/perception thing where we can get quests, better prices, special hidden items for sale depending on faction or perception, etc.

Have different merchants for different tradeskills....wood merchants selling common woods, metal/ore merchants, leather/textiles merchants etc. Have them in their own area where there are other similar merchants...like a family shop.

For instance...you see a jewelry shop. There is a merchant there who offers a selection of gems and metals, all common and available to buy. Inside, there is a family of merchants, all in the gem trade. There is one who sells basic recipes, and another who tells you of certain rare gems/metals that are for sale on the area. As you speak to the first merchant, you can get a quest to get faction with him. You perform some tradeskill skills for him...maybe crafting a few things that he asks for and now, you get a better price on items for sale from him AND that you sell to him.

After a while...you get to a certain faction level with him. He then tells you about a certain rare recipe seller in the East that he has heard about, and that you should go there since your skill is good enough to craft it. Or, you could even get a perception in the shop once your faction gets high enough...maybe a note telling about some guy near Thronesfast who has a special gem squirrel led away.

There are so many ways to play with this idea...but I really like it.

Newspaper. with want ads that can be taken to non laggy areas.
Aside from that all the normal types. As for placement, each having there own stall, spaced nicely to avoid laggy crowds.

I'd like to see a barding vendor. It would be neat to be able to get quite specific even down to the head pieces with the kinds of armor and equipment I can put on a mount - just as long as our mounts don't look unreasonably festooned.

I've always liked a variety of vendor type set ups. Cities might have individual shops whereas villages might have a flea market feel to it. Wandering merchants were always a favorite cause you never knew what you might be able to vendor dive on.

As mentioned earlier...having random merchants in obscure places would be nice. Finding a wandering merchant in the depths of a dungeon or in the middle of nowhere who could buy your merchant crap, and you could restock on things like bandages, basic food/drink, occasional special rare items, possible rare/uncommon spells or crafting recipes/components.

Merchants who are selling ingredients like spices for cooking or components for engineering or a fishing line.

A book store where the book can have lore, new spells, new recipes or informations starting a quest, written on its pages.

Stores and merchants selling vanity pets. Of course pets should come from other sources as well, but some basic pets should be sold so that everyone could obtain them.

And I like the idea that some merchants are maybe a bit hidden in the world or are traveling the world, so you not always find them at the same place.

I'm not sure that this would count as a "store" but I would love to see an in-game casino or carnival of some sort.  Some place where you could play mini games with a chance to win prizes.

This sounds like good ideas for the "developer guild" pledge item but as we discussed in other threads as a physical zone for only the members of the said "guild". Kinda like CSHome in eq1.

The black market from EQII always pleased me. Nasty prices, but that is what scarcity does.

I would like it if certain vendors only bought certain items from you, being uninterested in your jumjum seeds if it is a blacksmith, for instance. A general vendor would take everything, but would give less for it and wouldn't care as much about your faction. The specific merchants, however, would pay more and faction would make it even better, making your trip to their shop worthwhile.

Ive always liked to see taverns and pubs as meeting hubs for players it always seemed appropriate to me. Even if it's a social place to get an ale and have your vision blurred and text slurred like you're drunk. I also like seeing actual stores and not just street merchants in a market place.

Oh! and hoping for player based merchants too! Maybe the opportunity to buy an actual plot and put a real shop up with a merchant and your own decor.

    Definetly agree with many here.

Merchants out in the world, like the gypsy camp, wandering merchants, even enemy npc's that sell things to players blackmarket like, etc.

Merchants can be general but some need to be specific to the area. Fernville Cheese should only be found on merchants near Boston, minus the one trader that is way out in no where or long long ways from Fernville who happened to um, raid, steal, or coerce the goods from the proper dealers. A Fizzcutter in only ONE place in the world is always cool, too. Goblin at the bottom of a dungeon. Crazy bartenders.

Along with rare things, please add add oddities. The diamond ring (not wearable). The shovel. Pillows. Ball and chain. Yes, we actually bought these things and handed them to each other in roleplay. In a sandbox, we can do a lot to make the game meaningful, but having little touches like these make memories more memorable.

    Booksellers!!!

The stall idea I love, as long as: you don't have to rent one to sell things; you can decorate your stall; you can sell things yourself or use an NPC (Daoc, EQ);  AND AS LONG AS YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAY LOGGED IN. The waste of electricity is bullshoot in this day and age. Get with it people.

Merchants that hold items players sell to them so we can VENDER DIVE!!!

    Faction should matter when buying/selling.

Banks in all cities, but not in villages or small towns. Faction earning to access a bank is okay. Maybe not "banks" but locations to rent storage. Guess this depends on how good or messed up P's bank and storage system turns out.

I would like to see merchants that are somewhat faction based.  For example, say you have a "General Merchant" that just sells basic stuff.  He'll sell to anyone regardless of faction, because he wants to make money.  But you go to buy from him, and you have really good faction standing with the local thieves guild, which he happens to be a member of.  Maybe then he'll be willing to sell you his poisons and maybe some special ingredients or items that are useful to rogues and possibly other classes.

Create a mechant class.  Combine a store with boat travel.  I would like to see players (or guilds) own ships and when the player is not online, the boat could traverse a specific trade route.  Players trade with the local boat merchant and could also barter on the boat as it travels from port to port.  I would not have a global market,  I would let the boats act as real trade routes and passage.

Merchants that spawn on certain days of the week or month (much like Zur on Destiny) I think would be an interesting idea. Tempoary, traveling, unique items.

Another take on this idea is a quest-like/merchant rogue in a dungeon that will appear in various areas with a request for us to be a fence for items he stole - where we actually have to buy the iteam with our own plat and sell it to some, or any merchant, in a town which gives us a higher price (essentially a quest but we actually use our own plat to give quests a more realistic feel).

I like a few different aspect of shoppes (Old English spelling, thank you very much):

I like a shop that is open-air market style where people tend to congregate.  I love the hustle and bustle and the feeling of being somewhere vibrant.  This is opposed to being in a shop that feels like a secluded closet with no other players around (because that feels like a single player game).

I also like surprise merchants (if they make sense).  Like going way down in the bottom of a cave-zone and finding a dwarf who buys and sells a few things so you can get water and maybe unload some loot.

As for specific favorite stores, I loved the jewelry store in Thurgadin.  I loved the rich green carpet and the display counters - it was totally in-tune with the zone's aesthetic and it felt like a real jewelry store.

Ye Olde Magika Shoppe?  :)  And Kilsin please say we can vendor dive (buy things that adventurers have sold off from other zones)  I loved doing that in EQ1. :)

I want Merchants or Bankers that require high faction to use. As an example, way back in the days of EQ in the zone called RunnyEye Citadel there were Goblin Bankers and Merchants you could do business with. However, you needed to have faction high enough with them in order to use it  (technically you could use them with low faction but they would attack you while you use their services).

What I liked about this was if you were playing an evil race and were KOS in most towns you could still bank and sell stuff to NPC’s in their homes if you had faction, this made it so useful for us KOS races.

I like the idea of raising my faction high enough that if I use a NPC monster for a merchant that perhaps they have some rare items or stock you can only get from them. Faction farming is a game within a game for some players and I’m one of them who would love this.

Banker!  Technically not a merchant - but I loved going to the bank in EQ.  There were always others there and it felt so alive.
