Being a summoner, I would set my pet on it, and attempt to both keep pet alive as well as trying to keep the mob on pet....and then PRAY to not fizzle (again) and then kill it with my dmg spells. Not to mention having my root spell ready to go, and my stun every time it refreshes :)
In RL I would be cursing it to the max, and yelling at my fizzles :(
I would only ask myself 1 question .
"Can I take a hit or is this mob behind me a 1 shot wonder (think a sand giant going after a level 5 character) ?"
If the latter then only Feign Death might help if I have it . In any case I hit /location to find my corpse and meet my destiny .
If the former then I use any means I could have to accelerate my run , make a U turn and rush the other way round . I send a quick prayer to avoid a stun , take a hit and make a bee line to the nearest zone line . Any distance I can make will facilitate the corpse recovery if I don't make it to the zone .
The answer is really easy:
Hit the feigh death button, and notice how it fooled noone. Take another round of beating while desperatly watching health bar run out in a race with the feign death ability reset. Succeed in feign death and feel the adrennalin rush surge through your body while you wait an extra 2 mins for the mob to reset aggro!

As a Crusader we don’t run. If I am forced into a corner it will be a bad day for what decided to chase me or attempt to corner me. As an Archai I would summon all my elemental based strength and use my skills as a proficient fighter to either dispatch the vermin or die standing up. It may not be a good day to die but at least I will meet the challenge head on. We don’t run.

before they just wanted your wallet, now you made them work and they are gonna take some skin off ya.
what do you do? prepare for a beating.
wake up in a dirty alley (hopefully still fully clothed) wishing you had juts handed over the wallet and gone home and called your credit company to cancel the cards.

I take into account the remaining options i have,
am i with a party? have they died?
am i alone?
i look at the walls, anything that can save me?
i cling to any hope i may have! do i have enough time to recast a root or snare? Am i a feigh death class?
even if one perceive that all hope is gone there is always hope or should always be hope! i pray to my deity to protect me save me from my stupidity! or to send a sign!
if all else fails, i fight !

What was I trying to cast? Root? Gate? My Shaman will always have Root memmed and probably Snare if we get it. Knowing nothing about spell lines, class abilities or anything like that I'll give you the answer based upon what my EQ1 Shaman would have done. Fire off the AA for Virulent Paralysis, whereby the mob would be knocked back (in the direction I am facing) a good distance and then instantly rooted by a highly unresistable root spell. I'd then Activate my fully buffed suspended minion. As I always had Slow, I'd slow the mob, then quickly hit it with Malo and debuff its STR, DEX and AGI. Quickly swap out debuffs for DoTs and Root and just root-rot the thing to death.
Or, if I were pressed for time or knew I couldn't actually kill the mob, after hitting it with Virulent Paralysis I'd quickly memorize Gate and just gate out.
