In-Game Puzzles

Man this is right up my alley! I have loved puzzles in games all the way back since Kings Quest series by Sierra.
My favorite types of puzzles are more of the riddle type, as an example:
You come across an old weathered shack, it has a lock mechanism that is rusted shut, (clue, hmmm if only I had some type of oil) you eventually find oil and open the mechanism to enter the shack. Inside is a dusty, old note that reads “By the dawns light at Saint Lorian, his shadow will show the way...”. You eventually discover a large statue of Saint Lorian in a nearby town, and as the morning sun rises, the shadow from his sword points to something obvious at one point. From here you get your next clue etc... eventually leading to something major like a unique item or questline.
Other puzzles I enjoy are within dungeons, like sliding stones to pressure plates to reveal keyholes or burning out a pile of something to discover an object.
I love this sort of stuff...

Did I never respond to this last year when it was active?  Wow.... bad Neph.

I heart puzzles - when they make sense in terms of lore.  So, don't have a puzzle for the sake of having a puzzle, but have a puzzle because it draws us into the world more, that kind of thing.

I will say that if there was one concept I wanted Pantheon to seriously consider stealing from TSW, it would be the idea of investigation quests.  I really hope that we see that sort of thing coming out of the Perception system - quests that send us hunting through the world to find clues which ultimately lead us to a new discovery.

Bad Neph, indeed. I loved the investigations from TSW, though I'm not sure googling and all that would fit with the overal Pantheon theme, unless the gnomes had 'knowledge stations' or some such set up all over Terminus that had been there since they arrived collecting data, hmm... Frustrating at times, but well worth it, in the end. Using this type of quest would be awesome for our class or even racial lore.
