Sounds exciting I've been interested in this since the 1990's,  glad that its finally progressed to this point.   Originally I saw a picture of what looked like a pilot's seat that you sat in for this technology,  but back then it was horrendously expensive, and out of the reach of most gamers I know. :)

Some of the old HMD's ( Head Mounted Displays ) back in the 90's were in the 10's of thousands of dollars, Oculus sells the DK2 for $350, they are looking at keeping the consumer version around $250-$350 mark if possible.

There is one big problem with these VR units,  other then the test units, they need to actually release a consumer model.  The longer each one of these takes, the worst shape they will be in.

Also price is going to be a big factor,  as they are cool, they are also limited by the development of software studios.  So spending 350 bucks on a unit that no Well known developer will touch , will just turn it into a paper weight.  Remember VR has been done before in the past, but been plagued by lack of developer support.

So far Elite: Dangerous has full support for the RIFT, Star citizen will have it,  Alien isolation, DCS flight sim, HL2, list goes on, EQN has stated they will have full support for VR, studios are jumping on the VR train already

Sony Project Morpeus getting  shown at GDC tomorrow.

Despite that I am a Oculus fan the more big hitters that jump on the VR train the better VR will become overall.

Valve waited so long for Facebook/Oculus. I'm honestly surprised it took em this long to go somewhere else.

I'm not saying there is zero support for the device, but companies have to actively develop for them.  More and more we are seeing smaller teams and smaller budgets for games that cost millions of dollars.  VR will be the first thing to go.  It also depends on the audience.  If only 2% of the market ends up buying these due to cost, it's not worth pumping the time and money into developing agame for them.
