Paladin has the ability to equip shields but cannot currently progress the skill, no skills available. Using shields as a weapon is a standard technique, the two most common uses are bash/slam and chop (hitting with the edge). Not referring to games but actual shield use by various cultures throughout history.
Increasing "block" does not improve block chance, for any class. Should use the same formula use for dodge and parry.
Pally can equip 2H spears (halberds) and gain skill with spears, however spear or heavy spear is not listed under skills.
