Pantheon folder under Documents\My Games

Was it really the intent to drop over 27GB of files in the "Documents\My Games\Pantheon" folder?

I believe the general intent is to provide place for configuration, documentation, and other small files to make reinstalling the game easier for the user. It is not the appropriate place to drop over 27GB of content files that are then sync'd to OneDrive, using the default configuration of Windows these days. This approach will definitely cause issues down the road.

Being under OneDrive certainly is a problem. It is known and warned against by all Support people. The installation directions on the installer download page directs people to put it elsewhere. https://www.pantheonmmo.com/download/

The installer also pauses and shows where it is planing to install and gives the player the choice of putting it there or choosing someplace else.

I may be mistaken on this but I still use Windows 10 and it has never defaulted to that. The installer, while updated a bit, was created before Windows 11 was released.

Changing the installer code is on the list of 'important' things that need doing, along with 50 other things that people regularly post about. Unfortunately, VR only has two Devs who write/modify/debug the code (last I heard), and their time is in very high demand for all the most pressing issues. I'm sure they'll get to it at some point.

Until then, I'm sorry for your inconvenience in having to reinstall.

In Windows 11 the OneDrive setup calls moving Desktop, Documents and Pictures folders under OneDrive their 'Backup' solution and pushes pretty hard for you to install it. I actively despise Windows 11, but I was in the insider program until this year and figured I would leave it for testing newer software with the latest Windows version.

Do not misunderstand me though. I am neither inconvenienced nor annoyed over a default setting of pre-Beta software I have volunteered to test and the last thing I would do is having syncing active on a device I am using to test with. My own experience has shown that most users will not even glance at the default settings in the installer, and just want to get the game, so I provided feedback that I saw a default option that I believe will cause issues due the OneDrive default of 5GB free.

I do not see any warning to change the destination folder, on the download page, and assumed that when it said would be installing the launcher there, it did not mean the entire game.

I posted this in the General Discussion because I expected someone to come back and say 'yeah... they know', but it could have been a recent change and someone else would respond with 'oops'. You know, discussion... my mistake.

I would suggest changing the install path out of the users directory, especially if you have onedrive backing it up. We have many people who have reinstalled it somewhere else and it resolves issues with connecting, crashes, etc.

I do agree with the OP. As someone who is pretty tech illiterate this was a hassle for me and I stopped receiving emails for a period of time.

I am about to install but this does not look very easy.

I'm guessing you already installed, but just in case I'll post this. It really isn't difficult. The Download page for VR's installer has instructions that are helpful, and the part about where to install should work just fine even if you have the Steam version.

I personally have an entire Drive just for my games, so that's where it goes for me. But the location in the above directions will work just fine too.
