I downloaded the Closed Captioning some of Joppa's videos youtube and twitch. Sent the CC through ChatGPT to create a FAQ for Summoners. Just in case folks would rather read then listen.

    Summoner Class Design

    • Q: Did the designer of the Summoner class play Final Fantasy 11? A: The designer has only played about an hour of Final Fantasy 11, but some of its influence may have seeped into the Summoner class design.
    • Q: What is the primary role of a Summoner in a group? A: The Summoner’s primary role is DPS (damage dealer) in the party.

    Pet Mechanics

    • Q: Do Summoner pets level up their skills automatically? A: Yes, pets will automatically level up their skills (like defense, unarmed, dodge, etc.) as they gain levels. You won’t need to train pets manually.
    • Q: Will pets retain their gear after death? A: Yes, pets will keep their weapons and armor even after they die. Pet gear is tied to the pet type, not to individual summons.
    • Q: Does pet gear reset each time I summon a pet? A: No, pet gear is persistent across summons and specific to the pet type. For example, a Titan’s gear remains consistent regardless of how many times it is summoned.
    • Q: How does pet gear progression work? A: Summoners will naturally gain access to better equipment for their pets as they level up. High-tier pet gear will come from rare spells, drops, or crafted items.
    • Q: Can pets equip normal player gear? A: No, Summoner pets will not be able to equip normal player gear. Instead, they will have gear specifically designed for pets.
    • Q: Will there be pet commands or abilities? A: Yes, pets will have a series of abilities that can be triggered manually or set to automatically activate on cooldown.

    Summoner Abilities and Roles

    • Q: Will Summoners have consumable summons? A: Yes, Summoners will be able to summon a wide range of consumables, including food, drink, and equipment. However, they won’t be turned into a "walking kitchen"—consumables will have utility but won’t overwhelm the Summoner's role.
    • Q: Will Summoners provide group utility buffs? A: Yes, Summoners will have strong group utility buffs, including the best damage shields in the game.
    • Q: What kind of creative consumables can Summoners summon? A: In addition to food and drink, Summoners can summon special equipment that other players can use, along with unique items that enhance pets' performance.

    Combat and Tanking

    • Q: Can Summoner pets serve as tanks? A: Yes, the Titan pet can act as a group tank in certain situations, depending on the quality of the gear and how well the Summoner uses its abilities. Titans will not replace raid tanks but can tank effectively in group content.
    • Q: How will Summoners use their pets in combat? A: The Summoner's power lies in their pet. Summoners will rely on their pets to deal damage, tank, and support depending on the pet type, with abilities manually triggered for optimal results.

    Special Summoning Mechanics

    • Q: Will Summoners be able to use "Call of the Hero" to pull group members anywhere? A: No, Summoners will be able to use "Call of the Hero" in specific locations within dungeons, not anywhere in the zone.
    • Q: Can Summoners summon walls to escape bad situations? A: Yes, Summoners will still have the ability to summon walls for escape during bad pulls.

    Other Mechanics

    • Q: Will an all-Summoner group be viable? A: Potentially, but the intention is for diverse group compositions to be more efficient. However, a group of Summoners should still be capable of handling content, depending on how it plays out.
    • Q: Can Enchanters charm monsters summoned by Summoners? A: Yes, Summoners will be able to summon monsters for Enchanters to charm, allowing them to have pets without taking spawns from the XP camp.
    • Q: What are "natural rest areas," and how do they relate to Summoners? A: These are safe spots in dungeons where players can set up camp. Summoners will have special interactions with these areas to summon other group members to their location.

The Summoner Class in Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

The Summoner is a dynamic and versatile class in Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, offering players a unique blend of damage-dealing and utility through the use of powerful summoned entities known as Armentals. As a Summoner, you will command elemental beings, each with distinct roles and abilities, to support your adventures across the world of Terminus.

    Role in a Party

Primarily, the Summoner serves as a Damage Dealer (DPS) in group settings. However, their ability to adapt to various situations through their pets allows them to fill supportive roles when necessary. With the right pet and strategy, a Summoner can even off-tank or temporarily tank group content, showcasing the class's flexibility.

    The Armentals

Summoners harness the elemental forces by summoning Armentals—elemental beings bound to their will. There are four main types of Armentals, each corresponding to a different element and role:

    1. Titan (Earth Armental)

    • Role: Tank
    • Abilities:
      • Taunt: Draws enemy aggression.
      • Root: Immobilizes targets.
      • Lasso of Vines: Pulls enemies towards the Titan.
    • Description: The Titan is your go-to pet for absorbing damage and protecting you and your allies. It excels in holding enemy attention and controlling the battlefield.

    2. Fury (Fire Armental)

    • Role: Ranged Magic DPS
    • Abilities:
      • Casts powerful fire-based spells from a distance.
    • Description: The Fury unleashes destructive magic, dealing significant damage to enemies from afar. Ideal for maximizing your damage output in combat.

    3. Zephyr (Air Armental)

    • Role: Melee DPS
    • Abilities:
      • Engages enemies in close combat with swift attacks.
    • Description: The Zephyr strikes quickly and relentlessly, making it perfect for players who prefer an aggressive playstyle focused on physical damage.

    4. Undine (Water Armental)

    • Role: Support and Utility
    • Abilities:
      • Provides healing and buffs to allies.
      • Can engage in combat if needed.
    • Description: The Undine offers supportive abilities that enhance survivability and bolster your group. It's the only Armental that can be summoned alongside another, allowing for strategic combinations.

    Pet Mechanics and Control

    • Level Synchronization: Pets level up alongside the Summoner, ensuring they remain effective as you progress.
    • Pet Gear: Summoners can equip their Armentals with specialized gear that persists through death, enhancing their capabilities. This gear is unique to each Armental type.
    • Ability Management: Each pet has a set of abilities that can be toggled between automatic use or manual activation, giving you control over their actions.
    • Multiple Pets: While the Summoner can have only one primary Armental summoned at a time, the Undine can be summoned alongside another Armental, allowing for tactical flexibility.

    Summoner Abilities and Utility

Beyond commanding pets, Summoners possess a variety of spells and abilities:

    • Mana Shield: A protective barrier that absorbs incoming spell damage for a short duration.
    • Damage Shields: Summoners can cast potent damage shields, reflecting harm back to attackers.
    • Summoned Consumables:
      • Food and Drink: Provide sustenance and minor buffs, helpful during long adventures away from towns.
      • Temporary Bags: Expand inventory space with summoned containers (note: items in these bags may disappear if you log out for an extended period).
    • Environmental Manipulation:
      • Summon Walls or Pockets: Create barriers or escape routes during dangerous encounters.
    • Group Utility:
      • Summon Group Members: In specific locations, such as designated areas within dungeons, Summoners can bring allies directly to them.

    Combat Strategies

    • Pet Management: Effective Summoners tailor their pet's abilities to the situation, deciding when to automate actions or manually control them for precise tactics.
    • Solo Play: With the right Armental and strategy, Summoners can handle solo content efficiently, leveraging their pet's strengths.
    • Group Synergy: In group settings, coordinating with your pet enhances overall team performance, whether through tanking, damage, or support.

    Skill Ceiling and Playstyle

The Summoner class caters to various playstyles:

    • Casual Friendly: Players can rely on their pets to automate certain actions, making the class accessible for those who prefer a more relaxed approach.
    • High Skill Cap: For those who enjoy micromanagement, manually controlling pet abilities and combining different Armentals unlocks advanced tactics and greater efficiency.

    Additional Notes

    • Pet Scaling: Armentals grow slightly in size and power as they level up, reflecting their progression alongside the Summoner.
    • Visuals and Assets: While current visual representations are placeholders, future updates will introduce unique models and effects for each Armental.
    • Pet Commands: Summoners have a pet control interface, allowing for commands like follow, stay, attack, and more, which can be customized with keybindings.

    Conclusion

The Summoner class in Pantheon offers a rich and engaging experience, centered around the bond between the Summoner and their Armentals. Whether you prefer dealing damage from afar, controlling the battlefield, or supporting your allies, the Summoner provides the tools and flexibility to adapt to any challenge. Embrace the elemental forces and become a master Summoner in the world of Terminus.
