The real EverQuest 3?

I know they are in ideation phase at Daybreak , but if the length of this games development is anything to go buy, I would not expect an ‘official’ EverQuest 3 for many many years and treat this instead as the ‘unofficial’ spiritual successor since it was even conceptualised by the late great Brad Mcquaid (RIP).

I totally skipped EQ2 and jumped from EQ1 to WoW. Didn´t last much in there, but anyway. I am hoping to revive everything that EQ1 did great, with the good things you can add nowdays, thanks to technology and 20 years of learning

I think you'll discover after playing Pantheon for more than five minutes that this game is not what anyone really wanted in a successor to either EQ1 or EQ2.  After almost a decade in development, it's still in a rather abysmal state and kind of an embarrassment to the current plethora of MMORPGs on the market.

I don't feel that way at all so maybe LB7 won't either. If you don't care about this project, go troll another forum. Nothing about what you said is accurate or constructive.

gamexilor, your name fits you well. "Exile" from reality, perhaps? Or just "exiled" from good taste in MMOs? Pantheon, while it's obviously not finished, it already captures the EQ1 vibes perfectly. Your opinions seem to be on a self-imposed island, far from the shores of Pantheon's community. Your understanding of what makes a game great appears to be on par with your ability to post a reasonable critique on these forums.

That's a bold-faced lie.  The game you're thinking of is called Monsters & Memories currently being developed by former EQ1 devs.  Pantheon doesn't hold a candle to that game, despite it having been in development for almost five times longer.

What Everquest were you playing to call it a bold faced lie? Probably playing from some basement in Irvine, eh?

This game captures Everquest perfectly while being it's own creation!

Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion, I will never understand why people put such time and effort into something they don't like. It is one thing to say you don't like a game and then move on. It's quite another to post time and again that you hate it and another game is way better.

The answer is simple. Maybe you will work it out?

Then go post in that forum. I love that there are other games and projects that people can go enjoy. Ps. I checked out M&M which is in “proof of concept” phase and is only being made by one EQ dev (Shawn) and it shows. Glad you like it but it is so much like EQ1 that it feels like 1999 with amateurish sound effects. I would just go play EQ P99 if I wanted more of that. I wish Shawn all the luck but his game is even so niche that some EQ vets will find it dated (and he knows this). This project is the epitome of tenaciousness and had to be basically rebuilt from scratch at the end of 2020. VR has clawed their way back to having a viable finished product on the foreseeable horizon. So show some respect (and run along).

I come back here to simply warn people to not sink money into this wreck of a game like I did years ago.  It's sad that the players of Pantheon have become so fragile that they can't let the game take the smallest bit of criticism without becoming a toxic pit of rabid fanboys.  In all honestly, it doesn't take much effort at all to post here.  Hopefully people will see the low activity on these forums and take the hint that this game is doa.

LOL. I also find it hilarious that you cannot take criticism without resorting to insults (which, if you read my post, I did not and am not, partaking in).

You have made your point; a number of times. Not everyone agrees; a lot of people like the direction the game is headed. These forums may be quieter than they used to be, but that may be because those that posted here are mostly playing the game or are waiting for EA which is around the corner.

They are not wrong; neither are you. It is a personal preference. You may consider it a wreck, others definitely don't!

"...toxic pit..?" The toxicity is only coming from yourself.

Constructive criticism is definitely what this forum is intended for. If you have an issue, state it, reason it, move on. It is not intended for multiple "boo hoo this game sucks" posts.

You hate the game. Yup got it. LOL. Please, go play M&M and enjoy your life. LMAO!

    One further point:

I never take what some anonymous post has to say, for granted. I review, research, try out for myself then make up my own mind. This day an age, I think that most people need to follow this path rather than rely on rants from individuals.

Anyone who shouts that their point of view is all that matters usually has an ulterior motive and usually to the determent of everyone around them.

Not only is the game terrible, but look at this toxic fan base.  You guys will do more to chase people away than I ever could.

Everyone has had the opportunity to express their feelings, it's time to move on.

Do not try to fit Pantheon into the EverQuest box. It is its own thing. Yeah, a lot was clearly borrowed from EQ1, no doubt, but even current EQ1 isn't like actual Velious era EQ1, not even close really.

Pantheon will have Pantheon's vibe. Comparison is the mother of disappointment.

You can't really blame them though, right?  Pantheon was basically introduced as a return to old school mmo's that we once loved. (Tab Targeting, Groups adventuring, being social during downtime)

I think a lot of early supporters were hoping for Everquest with modern graphics.  Look how much effort goes chasing that nostalgia, M&M, P99, Lantern.  Now if all those projects could just combine forces to speed 1 title along instead of everyone doing their own game........but I digress.

"I think a lot of early supporters were hoping for Everquest with modern graphics."

You're dead-on there. When I started reading the forums - what seems a lifetime ago - there were SO many comments, questions and complaints  based overtly on the open assumption that most things in Pantheon should be the way they were in EQ.

It's taken years to slowly shift the community beyond that perspective, to the understanding that Panth intends to offer the same experiences and rewards as players got from EQ, while NOT being the same game.

I was taught a valuble lesson. Never support Daybreak games. If they complete a product Ill look at it at release.

i really enjoyed the alpha 5 of evercraft online.

perfectly captured the EQ1 vibe and the content was quite enjoyable.... i wish they were hitting EA or had a product of some sort but thats still a ways off it seems.
