Hey all, First, I'll apologize if this has been already addressed or covered in either a stream, thread or discussion. Second, Ill do my best not to compare this to Everquest's Mage class, even when Pantheon has many of its roots inspired from EQ.
    1. Pets: Underwhelming to say the least. I sent a level 14 Fury Arcamental, with haste, to attack a lvl 2 "Small Brown Rat" and the damage ranged from 6 to 14. (auto attack/fire damage).
      1. If the game operates on the idea that as the level discrepancy increases, the defensive/mitigation skills provide a diminished return and the higher level has improved offensive skills and damage because of the increased difference between levels. i.e Higher level mob hits harder, and more frequently.
        1. If those are the numbers the pet is doing against a level 1-2 mob, that means the damage is rated poorly against group mobs and higher level mobs.
        2. NOTE: At the time of writing this, i did not test this against higher level mobs/group mobs.
        3. I did test my spells however and I was doing 45 damage "insta-killing" level 1 -2 mobs with Dagger Swarm, which I can recall quite accurately, against dark blue, does half of that at best.
    2. Spells: I have like 4 spells to "debuff" and 1 instant cast damage, 1 very low-impact "nuke" and a "Bomb" spell that gets resisted and the damage output is so-so.
      1. For a "Summoner" I feel more like a "debuffer" rather than someone that "Summons" things. Given the spell comparison at this level at least.
      2. I would expect more summon-centric utility and damage spells and abilities, to off-set the performance of the pets
        1. A pet heal, the ability to buff the pets with more than just one buff etc..(I dont understand why I cannot buff my pet with all of my buffs, this above all else is baffling)
      3. The ability to summon a variety of weapons, tools, traps etc.. much much earlier on.
    3. The Fantasy: The overall fantasy, I feel at this point, is a far cry from what is described here https://www.pantheonmmo.com/game/classes/summoner/
Yes, its early on and yes there will be improvements and reviews but I think its important to discuss as many points as possible to get the best outcome :) I like the class and I see its great potential and I really look forward to seeing it evolve. Cheers

I agree they have excess debuff choices and lack some colorful dps

I really enjoyed pet classes in EQ.  RoTF Summoner is pretty fun as well.  Being able to summon equipment for your pet fits the class.  There are a few things I didn't care for.

I don't like how mobs know exactly who put the damage shield on their target.  If you buff the puller or if MT is pulling, the pet constantly charges into the cave the moment the puller gets agro.

Agro management seems really weak as well.  I feel it has to do with the omniscience the mobs have.  Fighting 2 weak mobs, even greys, the 2nd opponent will usually break from the pet and charge me.  This is even without me casting a single spell or making a melee attack.  If I back off the pet and redirect to the add, the original target will then break and attack me.  I feel like the pet should maintain agro if it's the only thing doing any damage.

The summoner is being revorked a bit behind the scenes at the moment so expect to see some changes soon :)

    Agree 100% @Varek.

How DO they know we casted the DS on the tank?

@MordreadRN, I assumed as much, and I cannot wait to see the class evolve to better suite its fantasy

I heard one of the devs saying that they do not have any bonuses in for when you hit a lower level mob with melee. So melee can not technically kill a grey faster than when it could kill it while it was white or blue if your character's gear/weapons are the same. I would imagine this is the same for a pet since it would using melee to attack the mob in your scenario. But mobs indeed do have bonuses when they are above the level of the player. I also do not think some of the stats are fully mapped to attacks when it comes to melee. STR does work but it is a lower impact on 1 handers than 2 handers (not sure this matters for your pet). Lots to do!

Could do with a pet heal spell too, unless that comes at higher levels?
