This month's Parting the Veil will be talking about Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen's tank classes. There is a lot that goes into being a good tank, so be sure to get your questions in by sharing them here. Questions will be selected from the community for Chris "Joppa" Perkins to answer live.
How complicated is Pantheon's enmity system? Or how does enmity work for pantheon? Is enmity different for each tank class or do they share a system? Do you use volatile enmity (meaningful actions pull large amounts of spike hate that quickly decays) or static enmity (highest enmity has hate) or status effect enmity (guaranteed hate while duration lasts) or a combination of these?
Can tank classes pinch perform the role of dps with gear and spec changes or are they locked into low dmg by nature of the class?
Tanks are quite gear dependent to perform their role well. Will there be quest rewards early on to help tanks gear up at least basically, or are tanks expected to have friends/guilds to provide them with crafted gear before they can step into their role? Or will they be expected to spend a fair amount of time to craft their own gear?
EQ added a number of quests later on (for all classes) that allowed them to build a first set of simple armor. Especially for tank players I think is practically a necessity.
Right now, we only see Dire Lords that is actually the only tank that has no access to plate and shield. As mentioned above, tanks are very gear dependent and AC in particular seems to play an important role. Aren't DL going to be niche tanks that may have a hard time competing with the two other tank classes once they are in game?
What will be the edge for warriors? DL are the antimagic tanks. I guess Paladins will have an edge for undeads. And warriors?
is the intent for Direlords to be viable MT's for raids? it was said that all tanks are being designed to achieve the same things just by different ways of accomplishing them, what are your plans for DL's to soak up non magic damage to be able to survive (or just not be discounted) as a MT for raids? or are their roles intended to be situational tanks for more magic based mobs/OT?
As gear/level increase one can only assume at some point gear will have resist stats on them, i forsee this causing a bigger gap between DL and plate tanks.. any thoughts on how to avoid this?
If still valid, Warriors have group buffs (banners) will paladin and DL have the similar? maybe not for the DL being what they are but maybe an aoe debuff or maybe an interesting group buff?
Can tanks classes move from a tanking role to a more dps role and vice versa within combat? I am thinking if you have a group with two tanks, one is in a more dps form, would they be able to move to a tank role if the main tank is taken out? Or would they have to stay in the "dps stance" and hope for the best?
