Under Human Lore, Thronefast is described as

"The First King Out of the Sanctum inspired his people with the founding of Thronefast, a coastal seat of power that flourished into the preeminent trade and commerce hub on Terminus."
So why does the Atlas show it surrounded by mountains?

Looks like its on the inlet there so it at least connects to the sea. Probably makes for an easily defended harbor. Whether thats enough to make it "coastal" or not...

It should be noted that the Yellow area on the Map that is labeled as 'Thronefast' is not entirely the city itself but rather the Region or Zone where the city of Thronefast is located. There will be other Towns and Villages in that Yellow part of the map that is the overall Thronefast zone. The actual City of Thronefast itself is located on the coast at the water channel that feeds out to the Ocean. If you actually zoom into the Map you will see that the channel itself actually goes right into the Yellow area and actually cuts across almost the entire Zone.
You might want to check out the July 2022 stream where they showed off some of the concept art for Availia (hope I'm spelling that right) which is a Town on the coast along the channel as well. Thus they show Concept art for Availia Docks as well as Thronefast Docks. They didn't go into detail of exactly where Availia will be in relation to the Thronefast City. So it could be east or west of Thronefast City or even on the opposite shore of the Channel. There appeared to be a bridge to the side of the Thronefast Docks which could potentially cross the channel.
Joppa explains that some of the Human classes will have their starting areas in the Availia area. They show art for a temple where the Human Clerics and Paladins begin their journey. Monks will also have a little Dojo in or near Availa where Human Monks will start their Journey. And they even showed some concept art of a Cave which Joppa hints might be near Availia where some Rogues might start their Journy.
