Personal timeline of events

What do people think about them making a personal timeline of your notable events. Things like first time logging in, each level, first time entering a zone, first time getting a magic item. I think it would be best if it was account wide but it could also be per character.

One of the cool things about this idea is for now all they would need is dates entered on the things that might show up on the timeline and the timeline its self could be created years later. In this way it would have a minimal impact on development.

For me, most of the 'notable events' you give as examples aren't things I'd want to keep track of. Big achievements are what I'd want to keep track of, and a screen shot with the date is all I personally need.

If other's want it, I don't see a problem if it's as easy as you suggest. Though I think the data-storage requirements could become an issue if Pantheon continues on for many years after release.

I could have given more example of things to track and we might have been closer to what we would like to see not sure. I would love to see examples of what other people think would be neat to track.

I am not a programmer and could be way off but I do design databases for a living and based on that little bit of knowledge I can not fathom how it would be a storage issue. I could see it adding some work to the coding. I would assume they would need to add in some sort of tool for the game designers to trigger a time stamp to be stored.

The reasons I did not list things like first epic quest completed is I like an open world game that has very little quests or tasks that every player would want to do. Give me a world to explore and let me do just that if they have major quests worth putting on the timeline than that means everyone will most likely be doing them. This than feel more like a game on rails.

I'm a data lady so I personally love things like this. As for Jothany's issue of storage, it could just be stored as a plain .txt with comma separated values, like a chat log. Even if you're storing an achievement for every little thing, it wouldn't take up that much space.

But I personally would love a little personal timeline. Character creation, first time level 10, 20, etc. First time looting a named item. First time max skill. First time max trade skill. First time you gained 1 of the 5th currency. A running total of all the money you've earned, etc. I personally love little things like that. I think it's not too difficult to implement and makes the world feel a little more personal.

My timeline would be entry after entry that reads:

"Once again you were killed by a kicking snake."

This is all stuff I expect to be recorded in the annals of The Library of Pantheon.

I think it would be cool to have something that acts as a way for your character to develop their own story. I'm not a huge role player, but five years down the line it might be cool to look back on my character's history and see the things that have been accomplished.

Yeah, something to denote the time, place, mob, item, group members etc present would be a cool feature. Especially if we're going to be playing Pantheon for many years to come :)
