Not sure if this factors in, but $14.99 in 1999 dollars adjusted for inflation would be ~$25, let's just say $24.99 for the marketing psychology.

Personally, I do not mind paying the adjust for inflation amount, but the numbers might be bigger than what we are talking about if we want a sustainable pure subscription model.

EDIT: *I couldnt remember what the original EQ sub was* I couldnt remember if it was $14/mo or $10/mo, it was $10 I believe (correct me if i'm wrong), so the numbers change down from $24.99 -> $16.50 or so.

I recall EQ being 14.99 if you only got one month at a time and less if you did longer commitments. It has been a long time though.

There was at least one thread before talking about how much they should charge and people brought up adjusting for inflation. Seeing as I am willing to just pay extra with no personal benefit, I am of course willing to pay more than 14.99 a month. But for some it might not be so easy to justify. For this reason, keeping the required subscription on the low side might be best?

Let’s say they do increase the monthly subscription to keep up with inflation. The downside is there would be no commitment from Visionary Realms to use the extra funds to develop more content.

Last I remember looking into this (accounting for inflation) the median household income breaks down to a 12.27% increase in 21 years (1999 through 2020). So $14.99 becomes $16.82/month if one wanted to increase sub prices to keep up. Of course there are far more services picking at peoples wallets today compared to 1999 as well, a lot more competition in that regard.

But yes, EQ was $9.99 back in 1999 and increased sometime after that.

It was actually $9.89 because of 989 studios.
