What happened to the Tank, Healer, DPS, CC Quaternity?
Or is that gone, now, and Crowd Control is no longer a primary role?

They must have realized that making Crowd Control a primary role is boring as hell, and that replacing it with "Support" opens up a lot more possibilities of engaging class design.
Tank, absolutely!
Tank is the one that controls the group and HOW they move through a dungeon. When everything is new, its too easy to make mistakes. And when the death punishment is what we expect from Pantheon, wiping isn't a great way to learn through constant run backs.
As the tank I can control how fast the group moves, what risk we can avoid. Use skill/knowledge to control the pulls and aggro range, etc. A healers job won't change much no matter where they are standing in the dungeon. A DPS/Support's job won't change too much...just vary depending on the mobs and size of pulls. But a tanks job will change literally from room to room in regards to how he plays and pulls.
And sometimes when you pull wrong, its a wipe no matter how great a job the other roles do.
Support, more to the point. Bard. If I cant role a Bard at launch. I will be rolling an Enchanter to feed to my Bard, if Bard is at launch, I will be rolling a Bard to feed to my Bard. I will be rolling an Alt, most likely a Summoner.
EDIT: I love being needed and loved in a team. Filling that hole everyone wants. I also love the challenge of playing support. No team mate is noticed more then support that knows their class.
After gaming for so long I have been drawn to the tank in every MMO I have played. I love needing to be on point for threat, positioning, keeping an eye open for new mobs, working around CCers, interrupting, shielding, etc.
I plan on being a summoner to relive glory days unless turned off to it by eventual beta mechanics. Gotta aim for the nostalgia of a mage doing a little bit of everything and great at soloing. Fingers crossed the tank pet is a viable off tank.

The best time to try out a new role you have wanted to play is when a game is new :-) Nobody knows what they are doing or where the encounters are (well except for everybody who got into Alpha and/or Beta...).
Normally I always play a tank as my main character. Groups are commonplace and/or everybody is hitting up the dungeon finder (not that Pantheon will have a dungeon finder) when a game is new. However, I am divided on what class type to play in Pantheon.
To answer the question I will say a healer.
Hmm. I played a pull/park/support Bard in EQ. Back in the vanilla days of WoW I used my hunter to pull mobs in MC and dish the dps. In ESO I carry tank gear in my bags so that if people want help with a harder WB or event I can fill that role easily. As far as healing goes, I generally heal in pvp so as to exasperate the opposing team or in raid/dungeons if I get bored of dps.
Alas in Pantheon I am more interested to go all in on the Loremaster aspect (or whatever it is called) and having access to the wizard/druid ports. Since my wife refuses to heal (she reached the rank of General in single server WoW pvp days as a dps) I will be healing on a Druid and travelling far and wide in pursuit of all things Loremaster.

I'll prefer a healer, because I'm quite confident in my healing skills/talents. With some minutes of getting to know the groupmembers, I usually adapt quickly to their playstyle and adjust my healing setup accordingly. If the group is not completely undergeared, I know, I'll pull their *sses through this dungeon if necessary.
If not a healer, I'll be the bard hoping they let me scout ahead. Aside of that I'll push to support and push the groupmembers beyond their solo output. Again, adapting to the playstyle of the group, the way I execute this push would differ.
DPS (and pull) primarily. support, healer and then tank. I want to play them all.

Have you been away on a trip?
The only thing we know for sure is that they changed the NAME of the 4th group role from CC to Support.
(They also changed the name of DPS to Damage, but Kilsin appears to have overlooked that one)
As to the question, given a PUG (presumably of strangers) and an unknown dungeon, I'd rather be the Wizard or the Druid.
So if thing go south, I can make like a shepherd and get the flock out of there.
I prefer Healer or Support. I've always enjoyed being the helper who keeps the group going, makes them stronger, heals their wounds. In almost every MMO I've been a healer, beginning with Druid in DAoC.
So I'm thinking my main will be a Druid, and when Bards appear in the world, I'll try that as well.

hahaha ... gotta love a backup plan. ;-)

Presumably, that public design goal was abandoned or altered after Feb 22, 2019, when Brad referred to it on Twitter?
While I like the idea of CC, does it matter if you call it CC or support?
At this time, there are 3 Tanks, 3 Healers, 5 Damage, and 1 Support.
