Funding idea

    I have been looking at 3d printers lately to make minis for my tabletop games, and while I was watching the fire lord stream it occured to me. What if there was a feature added where you could pose your character and convert it to a file for 3d printing? You could even go a step further and have three pricing brackets if it was well received;
    1) File to print on your own
    2) Unpainted mini mailed to you
    3) Painted mini mailed to you

    I think it could be a lot of fun for players, and additional revenue for VR. Did your guild achieve something memorable/significant? Print the minis of those involved for posterity. Like the way your dwarf paladin looks more than the models sold by Wizards of the Coast, Paizo, etc. Print it.

    Is that something others find interesting? Any other ideas?

    That would be excellent. I can only imagine people would love that.

    I wonder if there might be copyright problems, though?  People 'making' figures and selling them on as Pantheon Chess Set or the like?

    I'm not a figure collector, but I can well imagine wanting to immortalise my Panthoen characters.

    That is a very good idea.

    Someone run with that and then partner with the game companies.

    Has been suggested circa 2017-18 (by me! lol)

    proof of concept, WoW did the same thing some years earlier maybe 2008 +-1 or so?, but not with 3D printing. They offered a model of your character under plactic dome, as of a certain date. it was about as big as your hand with a base at the wrist and the dome would cover it. I knew a friend that had one made. Limited time, limited offer kind of thing.

    My suggestion was with 3D printing it would be less expensive to make, but could also include/ be ordered different armor sets maybe. (twist on the cash-shop making it RL merch like Tshirts instead of pixels in game) Or with the growing inexpensiveness of 3-d printing, instead of just the figure, a small in-action diorama maybe.

    A small diorama or sizes as options would be cool. I was originally thinking of how western computers rpgs were from their programmers time playing pen and paper RPGs. A 1 inch base mini that I could use in my games that held additional meaning would be a lot of fun. Maybe at conventions they could have limited release minis of NPCs, or something like that.

    It would be more likely I would buy one as a gift for a friend’s character then it would be for me to buy my own. I do think it is a neat idea but have no idea if it is practical fundraiser or not. For one I see no interest until the game has been released and an attachment to the character has been formed.

    If they were really well made, I could see spending $300-$600 on one maybe even more if the quality was outstanding.
