I have just one thought.
The German word for "deriving pleasure from anothers misfortune"
Can the recently deceased be modified that their worn armor is invisible? They respawn with the equipped gear, but I don't get to point and chuckle if they are not outwardly advertising their recent misfortune.
Worn armor upon respawn is invisible for 3 or 10 minutes?
I want to see streakers hightailing it across zones.:)
Hmmm, what purpose would this have? If you want to appear naked, just take your equipment off and actually be naked.
Grymmlocke said:Different strokes for different folks I guess. Deriving pleasure from anothers misfortune is lame, but that is just my 2cp.
I have to agree with Grymmlocke here. I do prefer a naked corpse run but not to snicker at the one doing it, but as an indicator of a comrade in need of assistance, a potential mini quest if you will.
It being taken out by VR, has actually made it irrelevant now. One more step twords status quo imo.

Yeah well i agree with stone as i too would vastly prefer a naked run you could at least make fun of a guildie u seenthat is naked.... Then maybe help him out lol
Last I recall, based on the fact of the enviormental and atmosphers, that you spawn with what was currently equipped. Then do a corps run to loot all your inventory on your body. But true, these nothing more pathetic that a naked woodelf trying to get your corps back.. it's enjoyable to watch.
Conversely, I'd like to see "corpse runners" appear to have just gotten the living shite beat out of them, rather than be a pristine underwear sprinter. Leaving a trail of blood; maybe having a limp or a horribly contorted limb; a messed up face with a black eye or broken nose/jaw; reduced movement speed. Partially naked due to battered armor might be a nice addition, as well. When the person recovers their corpse, a nice little graphical/audible effect happens and all of that goes away.
Gamexilor1 has a good idea that just fell short of the full potential . If I may be so bold...... The recently revival of fallen adventurers could also be followed by a troop, ten to 12, of trumpet wielding musicians, maybe a bag pipe or cymbal smasher too, that would announce, with great fan fare, the folly of past endeavors for miles around. Really , just think of the waving, smiling, naked player reveling in the attention and assurance that aid would be swiftly forthcoming.

Love it!!!
Hmm. Maybe some kind of effect/indicator could be added to the player who has not receovered their corpse. I don't know...like how there's that effect when a player is medding (the blue inward-moving lines, I haven't seen it in awhile, I hope it's still in-game) - maybe not that pronounced, but something noticable by other players.....like maybe their character is slightly translucent or has some kind of aura around them since they need to recover their 'soul'.
I don't know, maybe dumb idea. But I see both sides, where it would be nice to see who needs to recover their corpse (if they need a hand, or for those wanting to laugh at them lol), but also how in this type of game with the climates etc, you really have to have the proper resist gear to get back to your corpse.

I see an effect or indicator of any kind to be a bit irrelevant. We're talking about recovering material items at this point. So much, if not most or ALL of the desperation is gone. Your sword, your clothes, yes I'm all in to help. These are your livelihood in a world like Terminus. That would be of concern to me as I would hope it would be to you if I had lost mine. For that I would drop (or at least detour from) what I'm doing and help.
Your bag full of "stuff", your "lewtz", your "gold", your extra material item's? Whatever! Here's a couple water and some food, now move on and let me to my business.
Edit: Main point for the attatude change, You have all your gear, no reason you can't get your "stuff" yourself.
Hahahahaahbababbabbhaha.
I'm at work, standing in a hallway waiting for the elevator. I decided to peek at the forums. Zorkee, above me there in the thread has little time to waste on your fine belongings, kind of. But I read the "couple of water" as "cup of water" and I startled a nurse walking by with my laugh.
Zorkon: " Aw you lost your sh** in a cave? It's in a frozen zone full of frost spiders and wraiths that swarm? .... here's a cup of water, now beat it." Hahahaha.
Zorkon said:Hey! I said I would offer food as well, I'm not "totally" against collecting loot for somebody else!
I know I know. I just thought it was funny. I, you, we understand things get lost in a fog of meaning, where text is only used and missing are the elements of inflection and gesture.
I meant no ill will. Can I offer you a nice cup of water in these trying times?

'Tis a very well known part of human nature and I am a regular partaker. Have a quick Google.
"The science of humor: Researcher reveals the misfortune of others is key to a good gag
An expert finds there are many theories to what makes a joke funny.
Aristotle and Plato say all humor is derived from the misfortunes of others.
Thomas Hobbes believes jokes are funny when derived from competition.
The incongruity theory says incompatible concepts are considered funny.
etc.
Relative to Pantheon, yes, absolutely it was often amusing to see people 'naked' because their recent misfortune was obvious. Especially amoungst high level players fully geared and ready to play. Those naked unfortunates would wryly laugh at themselves while asking for help and their good humoured tales of mishap would elicit more offers of help than being upset and angry.
We all die in game from time to time. No need to be an a-hole about it, whether being the one dying or the ones helping them recover.
Of course, that humour developing to ridicule, derision and refusals to help would not be funny. Just like real life.
Anyway - that issue aside, I agree with Stoney, whilst I won't miss the nakedness from a gameplay point-of-view, to have no indicator of your predicament will be missed for many reasons.
Maybe you could *appear* naked until resurrected or recovering your corpse? That might be weird, but I'd sure like to see *something* in that regard. Perhaps an emote of some kind? Permanently waving your hands in the air? Or smacking yourself in the forehead repeatedly?
I suppose a serious idea would be to have some ethereal 'angel of death' hanging over you would be enough to elicit the correct levels of amusement and offers of help?

All the more reason to add in an indicator? If you feel not actually losing your gear doesn't sting enough, at least you might *appear* naked so all can laugh and point?
Anyway, I think how you feel about the severity (or leniency) of the death penalty doesn't invalidate what Stoney is interested in.
Also, it still might change. Maybe VR decide, actually, you can leave *some* of your armor/weapons on your corpse - maybe you keep your meain weapon and 4 or 5 random peieces? *shrug* But let's not start that debate here - don't want to derail.
Fulton said:If we spawn with our armor, then I wouldn't want armor to be invisible.
But maybe that armor be Blood spattered for a period of time (Should you choose not to retrive your corpse), or until you retrieve your corspe. Which expires first.
Blood-spattered would be good, but perhaps hard to see? Broken up and dented would be great, but significant art development I guess? Something like those would be great though.
