I like this thought - It would be cool for Pantheon to have some "flavor" abilities in a limited sense. Everquest had a neat type spell for necros, which allowed them to talk through their undead pet. It really served no purpose, but was neat nonetheless.
I remember in EQ2 where they had "flavor" abilities. The most heated debate was over those abilities (besides after the combat revamp). Of course, the Paladin & Shadow Knight flavor ability was a mount with run speed (which they did nerf from full mount speed to around 10%). So not all flavor abilities were created equal... :-)
However, even with the mount issue people would complain about why they could only have their fists turn red vs what another class could do.
With that said, I am all for flavor abilities that are cosmetic only. Just be ready for people to complain :-)
Brigand in EQ2 had one of the best 'fun' spells, it was called Clobber and you could knock people down to their knees.Provisioners could also make fruitcakes to throw at people which would also sometimes dizzy the target and knock them down,so much fun while the raid leader read strats out for the next encounter.

Keep in mind though, the spell will have a use.
