Pantheon Monthly Streams - thoughts on notifications and timing

  • July 23, 2020 6:33 AM PDT
I love the monthly streams and getting updated on the progress, but I feel like the team doesn't give us a big enough heads up of the timing. Does anyone else feel the Pantheon team should be more transparent on when the streams will take place? In any other business, we plan announcements weeks ahead and usually block off calendars months ahead. For me, it would be nice to know when the next stream will take place. Maybe I am just missing these notifications. I typically only check the news and announcement section of the forms.

I am hoping that the new website has a condensed media page that links all twitter, twitch, redit and main board dev posts.  I know I have missed a few stream that I would have enjoyed watching but didn't find out until after the fact.  Ideally said page would also have an active calendar with links to various streams and videos.

Over all though they do not have someone whose sole responsibility is creating videos.  Even Roenik has multiple responsibilities so sometimes things just get posted when they are done and that can fluctuate based on work load.  I for one would rather wait another 3+ weeks for a live pre alpha video of testers dying as they play rather than 4 members of the team taking a day away from PA work to create a 45 minute video talking about how great PA will be.

The streams typically maintain a fairly consistent schedule and fall on the last Thursday of each month at 6 pm PDT or 9 pm EST.  Then the next day they are typically uploaded to YouTube for anyone who may have missed the stream or wants to rewatch.

I always assume that it will be on the last Thursday of each month, but I do check in a week in advance on that Monday just to see if it may have been moved for some reason. Rarely do the streams fall any earlier than the second to last Thursday of the month since they went back to the once a month model and this once a month decision was made so they could do one really information-rich stream vs two which may have been sort of meh in terms of informational content.

The monthly stream happens once a month on the last Thursday. As for the rest of information being released it’s well known that vr is in work mode reveal mode coming soon.

At one time people complained that they didn't communicate enough. And that they didn't do enough videos. And now they don't notify you far enough ahead that a video is coming out? Give it a break. If they notified you a month ahead of time but canceled 3 days before due to some unforseen issue, I bet people would complain then. There is no winning for them.

I don't think it's to much to say the last Thursday of the month. If that is the case, can someone point me to that announcement?

Trasak, I totally agree with you. Having a simple gui and api to post to all the different areas would be ideal. It is pretty simple to do, honestly. It would be nice to see a calendar or some sort of update schedule on the new site. I think it's important to keep people informed and having to search 5 different places and constantly check forums is a pain. Maybe a rss feed or something similar would be helpful as well.

I 'm sorry if this hasn't been made clear on the streams, but yes, every last Thursday of the month. Because we want the share the most up-to-date information we generally will wait until the Monday or Tuesday of that week to promote.

Consider this your offical announcement :P

I think part of what has confused people is that days/dates keep changing.  Not criticizing, just mentioning it.

Understood. Since we've gone to one stream per month, this has been the norm. If there's a change we'll let you know :)
