passive racials/minmaxing/pvp/pve

When I saw the list of passives my first thought was "oh there is going to be a best race for each class" at least until we get 1-2 expansions in and get gear bloat. I'd rather not see any % based passives. Just give a +5 stat or something. People should be able to pick the race for the class they want without having to accept the fact that it may not be the best if... in 6-12 months... the end up raiding or doing end game content.

If the stats matter enough to make a difference, the community will start to min/max groups and raids based on that. If they don't matter at all then they don't server a purpose and don't need to be in the game.

I think they need to be careful with the way they are applied.  If they add them to allocations, then it will be significant when lower level and mean less later on.  If they add them to maximums, it will be meaningful at low level but maybe too significant later on as people start to max out stats.

I think I prefer the former situation where eventually racial limitations and bonuses can be 'overcome'.

We here disagree with all the beef over racials. Both of us are compelled to play a race thats not tailormade for our classes, and we were/are both hardcore raiding min/maxers. We agree that there certainly is a prefered race for each class; however we do not believe these preferences to be neccesities and like to have the flavours of the classes to fill unique less prefered roles.

given some time to think about this, accounting for a variety of situations or weakness in play is more important than minmaxing due to the nature of pvp in mmos.

active racial is usually the deciding factor in pvp choice, but i made a refined list based on passives for fun.

best left to right.  ~denotes solid choice~ excluded bard and necromancer*

    archai- wizard=shaman     ~druid~

bonus to elemental attunement, partial resource protection(huge in pvp if fights are stalemated and draining resource is the requirement to victory).  top tier choice for shaman.

    dark myr- rogue

competitive edge 1v1 rogue.  whoever gets the opener usually wins.

    dwarf- warrior/paladin/rogue

disarm immunity.  assuming warriors/monks/rogues can disarm... lol the player that still has their weapon wins.

    ashen elf- druid/shaman     ~enchanter/summoner=wizard~

best choice for pvpers that aren't good at juke casting.  top tier choice for druid.  good choice shaman.

    ember elf- ranger/rogue

raw damage nuff said.  druid killers.

    halfling- rogue/ranger     ~druid=warrior~

consumble madness.  love triggering or giving respect to another pvper?  want to make an enchanter cry?  pick this race.

    human- enchanter=paladin=warrior=shaman=cleric     ~summoner~

solid choice overall.  enchanter can minimize cc resisting(looking at you halfling).  additional shield mastery for all the above class minus enchanter(more armor for pvpers that can't deal with melee well).

    gnome- wizard=summoner/enchanter

top tier for caster.  pvpers confident in juke casting and the only thing that can stop you is a silence which covers the only weakness you have in your play.

    ogre- dire lord=warrior     ~druid=shaman~

stuns are pretty common in cc chains for pvp.  not much to be said here.  very good choice.

    skar- dire lord/warrior/monk     ~rogue~

i think skar has the weakest passives for pvp.  i don't see any classes that have a fear(maybe necromancer?) and the movement conditional is too restrictive to be worthwhile.  it could be good if it just individually gave 5% movespeed.

shout out to @kellie the list is pretty similar O.o

Has there been a set list on what stat does what? Like if agility increases melee damage and dex increases dodge/defense?

Not yet. I'm very hopeful we get more concrete details soon. Many of us are still confused as to the difference between Constitution and Stamina and why Constitution is so heavily emphasized for Pure Casters.

stamina is probably associated with movement like running, jumping, climbing, doing flips or rolling on the floor laughing.  constitution will probably be actual hp.  i think of dark souls green bar as a comparison.

i would also assume that certain stats do different things for each class.  apparently gandalf the swol is going to be a thing so buff wizard with massive strength going to have a beefy firebawl.

oh i just read ur last bit janus i'll add this:

(this is actually the 3rd definition i'm a copy paste potato so i don't know what i did)

    constitution
    [ˌkänstəˈt(y)o͞oSH(ə)n]

    1. a person's physical state with regard to vitality, health, and strength.
      "pregnancy had weakened her constitution"
      synonyms:
health · physique · state of health · physical condition · physical strength · shape · fettle
      • a person's mental or psychological makeup.
"the individual's constitution is commonly described as his nature"
