i'd rather be stuck with level one weapons for a week. as they say, clothes make the man(especially the shoes).
plus i'm a believer in peace hehe. what way to 'show' my pacifistic nature by wielding a level one weapon after i've charmed a pvp griefer off a cliff.
make love not war. a week of gathering raw materials and crafting is aok.
if i'm going to be competitive about it too, level one weapon really makes me focus on optimizing dps rotations, skill sets and decision making.

Well, as I'll be playing a Shaman, dual wielding isn't possible so it will be the level 1 armor option. As I would not be soloing, I wouldn't be taking damage on a regular basis so the armor issue would not be that much of a hinderance.
Interesting people are mainly going for things that benefit...ie cloth with armor..melee with weapons. He never said only those. So as a druid I would go with level 1 duel wielding because I don't melee and am a healer. I would then wear all my good healing gear.

weapons dictate actions of an individual. armor defines a man :3
As a druid or possibly a summoner, I would go with the level 1 dual wielding weapons. I'll probably have worked harder getting all my armor and spells over weapons. This way I'll still be effective calling down lightning or having my arcamental show the mobs what's what.
Probably level 1 armor all around since the only one taking the hits should be your tank. That is to say- as long as the tank has a level appropriate shield (since shields carry a lot of armor).
The only one that should be dual wielding is the melee dps and they should be worrying more about their dps than their armor anyway.
EDIT: I'm not seeing any sitaution where anyone of the classes in Pantheon would prefer to be stuck dual wielding level 1 weapons instead of level 1 armor... unless perhaps if they are soloing and even then I personally would prefer killing faster and relying on bandages, LOL.
Curse you Oh Great Keeper of Beans this is truly a Sophie's Choice!
Instead of brightly colored silk armor you would have me out in public wearing the equivalent of a holey tee-shirt, sweat pants and a backwards baseball cap. Ugh.
On the other hand, you would force me to perform on a cracked shawm with broken reed while holding an un-tunable lute missing all but one string.
Dream Crusher indeed! I choose to spend this miserable week in the pub, drowning my sorrows in fine Faerthale wine, regaling my good friend the Keeper with tales of wretched despair and horror inflicted by a certain rascal of a rogue...
Armour for a week.
I can imagine playing a game where I'm hurt easily. That's increasing the risk and challenge factor.
But being stuck with a level 1 weapon, would damage my experience of progression and it would much more feel like I'm being blocked from content. Unless I'll spend 15 minutes/mob.
Also, if I don't like the weapon, I'd like the possibility to change. Armour is a nice extra but the weapon is my main interaction/feedback with my character.
