As i am completly patiently but also impatiently waiting for new news, videos, information and Pantheon alpha release, spending more hours on that than gaming anything. I thought to share a random fact you most likely don't care about one bit! You're welcome! :D

    JANIS SOVA

The Turn comes for us all. Even for the Lord of Owls.

His name Sova litterally means Owl on many European languages, mostly Slavic countries. (Czech, Slovenian, Serbian...)

Janis is Hebrew meaning 'God is gracious'. It can be used for Male or Female but is generally used historically for Males. If going by the Latvian model (Baltic region), Jānis is one of the most popular boys name given up in 2001 where Arturs became the most popular. The origin within that culture has Jānis being the Pagan version of John in English.

There is no correlation with Janus however which is the name of the Roman God of Time, Gateways, Beginnings, Endings, Transitions, Duality, Doorways and Passages. The only Roman God without a Greek affiliation. Technically the Alpha and Omega or if talking about EQ lore, he is The Nameless.

As for Sova, it can mean one of two things. In Czech origin, it means Owl as Razor mentions. It's also likely where they got the name given the lore of the character. It also has Fijian (The people, not the water) origins meaning, 'Bird's nest where they lay eggs Or a wide open reed or coconut leaf basket for storage especially food at a traditional ceremony'.

So what we discovered is his name is basically, 'John Owl', 'John Bird's Nest' or 'John Coconut Leaf Basket'.

I much prefer John Coconut Leaf Basket.

    Johnny or Jonathan also works.

I tried to find a link to Wick because I was trying to link Janis Sova to John Wick.

Actually Sova goes far beyond the slavic languages .

Sova means indeed owl in Czech, Slovak, Polish, Russian , Bulgarian , Serbian, Slovenian so basically all slavic languages . But owl is also sofa in old Norse and can be found in Scandinavian languages .

It is supposed that the origin is found in proto indo european (the mother of basically all European languages) in the root swep which means "sleep".

lutorin - I was being facetious about the Fijian origins. I understand the origns as they fit within the Proto-Indo-European staging. However, they clearly seem to want to go with Owl on this one.

Gladare -You just about tied it to John Wick. Now we just have to wait for a confirmation that 'you're breathtaking'.

Isn't "ugla" Old Norse for Owl? I live in Denmark so i know Owl is Ugle and i think very similar way its said in other Scandanavian languages. Correct me if i am wrong :)
