So we know they been busy with this area I don't want to call it a zone because I'm hopeful it's more thin just one place. We have an idea it will be a starting place for at least one race.
So my question is what do you guys want to see if they do a pa5 in December witch is one year since the last one. And if cohh streams a quick rundown of the zone with the dev's what is the deal though area you been looking to see?
For me remember in EverQuest There is a priest of discord and it was a reference point that in kelthin that you always knew you're back to town and you knew when you were first starting where to run to safety as well as more you'd be running around at level one. So for me I wouldn't mind seeing that first little area which would be the lowest area of again I know but just see how that is put together see if it's scattered shops with mobs and see if there's any small low-level camp nearby. But this is just what I want to see I want to know how old again is going to start it'd be cool to see some of the crafting stations in that area and maybe a collection node if it's available. Basically I would love to see a straight up this is what u will see in the 1st 30 minutes of game.
Someone said on one of these threads that they were working on the entire continent as part of Project Faerthale not simply one small piece of it. If that is true, and I am in no position to judge, that means completion of the project will leave a very large and playable percentage of Terminus ready for alpha and then beta, while they use what they have learned and achieved to add the other intended geographic areas.
What do I want to see? I want a large area completed so that I can reasonably disagree with anyone that says not to expect release for five years because too much of the world has not even been touched.
What do I want to see? I want the areas that have been done polished enough that alpha within a few months is at least a realistic hope and not a totally impossible dream.
What do I want to see? I want the release following project Faerthale (PA 5 or PA 6 or whatever they are up to) to be soon, albeit consistent with a high quality product. So that there is hope for alpha in the not too distant future and actual release of the game before the heat death of the universe.
Is quick release of a large polished product very soon possible? Perhaps not, and at this stage of development I consider quality more important than speed. But the question is what I want not what I expect.
To be honest I wouldn't mind if “Project faerthale” was a codename for content up to level 10 or so, that could be completed, tested, polished until it could be “launched” for the public to enjoy while the rest of the level groups were released when ready to give us plenty of time in level to enjoy those early dungeons.

I do not think it is content that takes so long to develope. I think it is developing the ability of the designers to impliment said content. They probably have pretty much everything planned out and are just waiting for the mechanics and tools to all be finished so they can start spraying terminus with their imagination!
What I am hopeful for with Project Faerthale is not only what it is, but what follows it. My understanding is that PF is an assembly line, which requires teaching yourself how to build the machine, building the machine, and streamlining the process. That would mean that Project Faerthale is a bellwether for not only what the product at launch, but for years to come. If developers can stick concepts into an assembly line run by a skeleton crew, then expansions can be created ad nauseum. That's what makes me pleased (if a little disinterested) to see tree-builders discussed in the newsletter. Trees are just another section of the assembly line.
That's what I've been thinking anyways.
Project Faerthale is a reference region. It comprises almost the entirety of what Pantheon is. Think of it as the complete game save for a few aspects to showcase. It's also used to develop 'creation toolkits' to more efficiently and quickly build up additional zones and flesh out each continent. These toolkits canbe everything from quickly populating a zone, stringing AI, Scripting as well as Itemization, flora, mechanics etc. By using the template, the limitation is really in art assets which can be hired in full if they release PF and or Alpha without giving any of it away until it's ready. Think of it like needing to make a big splash, you don't want to use up your stones to make tiny ripples as they are only seen by people who already pledged. You need the full amount of stones to throw into the water to create massive waves to capture those far outside of the project.
The issue here is marketing. They need to hold their cards close to the chest, any slow leak of information takes from that vertible swimming pool of content from which to grab prospective parties and advance respective pledges into the alpha tier or contribute more through donations (part of the purrpose of the cash shop).
There's a reason games should not be developed in tandem and in full view of the players given their expectations. It's because when each moment of the development is scrutinized, it takes from the process. Due to the process being like the making of sausage, they then have to polish or build content in such a way that it's appetizing to the community. The issue there is that process slows development heavily. Instead, what they needed to do from the start was close the doors and focus without worrying about demands for updates. However, given that this is partially a crowdfunded project, you run into the issue of upsetting the people who are helping to fund the company.
It's a bit of a catch-22. You can work in isolation like other MMO game developers do during the first 80-85% of the 4-8 years they take to create it but cause the community to turn against you either due to ignorance as to the process or simple rabble-rousing. Or you can maintain the open process showing them bits and pieces which then requires additional time and work to make presentable slowing the process to a crawl which in turn hurts the development as you have people asking why it's taking so long. Doing that, you also have less to showcase during massive reveals which limits the outreach for prospective pledges or those who aren't aware of the game.
They've decided to run as to the former with Project Faerthale and being that it's a massive operation, you have some who are mischaracterizing it as a single zone sort of like BRK or South Saol.
Keep in mind, a lot of stuff as well won't be seen by the community. For example, the creation toolkits are massive for this game and unless they have them showcased independently, it along with other systems are likely going to fly under the radar giving people an erroneous presentation as to the totality of work that went into PF. Something additional I feel people should keep in mind.

Project Faerthale, is not just the design/development of a single zone.
It is an enscapulation of all game mechanics, functionality and from what I understand the design of a sizable portion of one of the continents.

Seeing some of the later game content in streams is ok. Because when I get there myself I'll be "oh yeah, I saw this *giggle**giggle*."
But the intro into the game, my characters first steps needs to remain uniquely mine, just as your first look at the game should be uniquely yours. The first look to the left should be your first look to the left because you thought you saw a rabbit. Or your first look backwards should be your first look backwards so you can take in the splendor of where you are. The awe of awakening in a new world should be surprising, exciting and exhilarating because you've never seen it before and because it's oddly familiar.

It's kind of hard to answer what I would like to see if they did a pa5 stream.
I think the 3 major things I would like to see include the Elven Race, their starting city, and summoner gameplay. I think that all of these fall into the category of realistic expectations given the title of the project. I generally just want to see how far the game has come after spending a year in development.
I'm also really interested in the perception system so hearing anything new about the process of leveling and the benefits of leveling it up would be nice.
