Not worried. Not a fan of the drama either. The game will launch when it’s ready. I don’t need, want, or feel entitled to progress reports. I remember Blizzard of the 90s would promise a new title “coming soon” but only after it met their standards for quality. 2 years later the game released. This was an era when “coming soon” typically meant the game released in a few months. But back then the whole of Blizzard cared about their craft would only release good games. I never understood folks that would complain about Blizzard launch “delays”. I’d rather get a good game.

"Here is a quote from Kilsin back in January: Kilsin - 01/06/2017 Pre-Alpha is a stepping stone to helping us catch some glaring bugs/issues and helping us set up Alpha testing, it won't for a huge testing period but it will be a very important one, maybe a few weeks/month or two at max then into Alpha"

    Brad, 2016-08-21: https://www.frailage.com/index.php/131-aradune-ama
    "Timetable
for Alpha/Beta: Nothing too specific or set in stone, no, because the most important thing is that we are ready, that the game is ready. Remember, alpha and beta are not like early access, where by design a portion of the game is sold to people. Alpha and beta for us is all about people helping us test the game, the mechanics, the features, the content. If enough of the features and mechanics are not present, or if there is not enough content, then starting bringing in outside people would actually do more harm than good. It would frustrate the tester and it wouldn't provide us with much useful information. So the answer is when we're ready, and we hope to be by the first quarter of next year [2017], but again, no promises."
    ...
"We want to be in full testing for a full year -- it helped EQ launch in a solid, fairly balanced way, and we want this for Pantheon as well."

    Brad, 2017-09-13: http://pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/6904/pre-alpha-alpha-period/view/post_id/127109
    "
All I can say is this right now:  I feel strongly that one of the reasons EQ was successful was that we had a nice, long beta.  With Pantheon we don't use the term 'beta' in the same way, however.  It's more specific.  With Pantheon I can say that Pre-alpha+Alpha+Beta will equal a nice, long period during which we will tune, take feedback, tweak, enhance what needs to be made better and yank anything that seemed like a great idea but when exposed to real players just doesn't pan out. "

    Kilsin, 2016-07-18: https://www.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/3723/game-status/view/post_id/58099
    "
We have said many times on these forums, in podcasts and streams etc. that testing is not ready and will be hopefully announced early next year [2017] but that is still not set in stone. As we have also said before it is just too hard at this stage of development to give time frames or even estimations since being unable to meet them disappoints many people, so instead we just work our butts off and announce news when we have it, that won;t change until we get further into development or receive investor funding. "

    Kilsin, 2017-02-26: https://www.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/5397/beta-information/view/post_id/96978
    "
There is no set time length for any testing phase, we will continue testing until we feel the game is in a good place and ready for the next testing phase or for full release, but it is impossible to predict when that will be or how long it will last. "

    Kilsin, 2017-02-21: https://www.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/2213/where-is-my-beta-download/view/post_id/95418
    "
Pre-alpha is soon, we are working out butts off to get the game ready for that amount of people and getting everything into the game that we need tested, once it is ready, we will announce it with plenty of warning for people to take holidays/time off etc. as previous stated. " [Pre-Alpha 1 started Dec 6, 2017]

    FAQ, 2016-09-08: http://web.archive.org/web/20160908191055/www.pantheonmmo.com/game/faqs/#q45
    "
What are the approximate timeframes for Alpha, Beta, and commercial release?
There are many variables involved and developing a massively multiplayer game is not an easy thing to do. Our goal is to be in alpha and beta in 2016, and to release the game in 2017. But this is not set in stone, and the above dates are subject to change. "

    Brad, 2016-08-17: https://www.reddit.com/r/MMORPG/comments/4y7sd0/i_am_brad_aradune_mcquaid_cco_for_pantheon_rise/d6lmjt6/
    "
Can you provide any sort of timeframe for alpha/beta?
... we hope to be by the first quarter of next year [2017], but again, no promises."

    Kilsin, 2017-10-02: https://www.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/7004/pre-alpha-mentioned-in-the-stream/view/post_id/129464
    "
We don;t have a timeframe for PA1 or Alpha/Beta, but PA1 is to help us set the game and servers up for large amounts of people and to help crush and game-breaking bugs that would affect large amounts of people, so however long it takes to get a stable build running minus game breaking bugs is how long Pre-Alpha will last, it may be only a month it may be longer but we won't know until we get in and test. "

I don't listen to podcasts or talk radio, so 99% of the stuff VR releases in their streams holds no interest to me and the last video showing actual gameplay or any type of progress was over a year ago.

Funds can be raised privately worsting comes to worst float and let your players and investors buy stock. Vanguard 2 no thanks MS pulled rug from Vanguard. And left old team in a deeply pile of dung. Thinking Brad did all he could do. Under the stress.

Ignoring the fact that they have run 4 pre-alpha sessions (where the game was genuinely complete and enjoyable enough to forget it was a very early testing session) and are working toward a final pre-alpha with all classes and a continent complete?

An accurate question would be : What would you do/ think if you thought you SAW 0 progress ?

Summer is ending, heavy work is back, light is fading to announce autumn then winter, everybody is just deceived by life and reporting it on a game in development seems like the only pressure valve responsible of it.

It's unfortunate that a lot of people take PR fluff stories as gospel, thinking it is actually development progress. If there was a refund button for pledges, I wonder what percent of people would take advantage of it.

It's funny you guys are hammering stiches for how he feels. I totally get it. They show no real news most of the news letter. Have had garbage and nothing in them they states who the game play gose  until this last one. For me concept art is just that.. it's something the may never see the light of day so it means nothing other thin art.

Of I seen screen shots from in game given me sneek peeks of progress I'd be ablot more pumped if I had a good idea that other starting area where done or worked of be good evidence like a screen shot of be happy.. but what we have is some one saying trust me or.. the infamous  "soon".   Really they need to do a nother stream. We payed in to a game that was going to be open to us as it  moved forward. They should do a stream once every 3 months at least wit some game play and them talking to us what's been worked on and stuff in the planing. And I mean a live stream they can take questions from people...

yes i feel the same way with star citizen.  $200+ million usd going on 8 years -hold up better provide a source because someone is going to white knight

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Citizen

complaints are fine and i'm okay with this sharing of thoughts that are a legit concern.

as far as paying goes, i didn't pay for anything.  a pledge/promise/donation is what i did.

ps i agree with dispolist here.  stitches admit he doesn't follow any of the podcast, newsletter, twitter or whatever so it's a bit invalid to make an assessment without being immersed in the information-it's not like it's outline- so at a glance no progress is definitely the way it looks (same case could be said for star citizen since i no longer follow them like a carrot since 2017.  it still looks like they are back in 2014 with more bugs.)

You don't have to sub on multiple media channels or forums.  A quick Google search would have brought up multiple recent videos, articles, etc.  Just did a search and the second entry after the official website is the MMORPG.com site which brings together all sorts of stuff including the livestream I linked.

The newsletters don't show "the same stuff over and over".  They show clear progress and tell us exactly what they are working on.

I interpreted "I've kissed my $350 goodbye" as meaning you anticipate nothing for your money, ie. the game will not be released.  How else is that to be interpreted?

If I saw 0 progress, but hadn't really checked anywhere but the Pantheon YouTube channel, I would maybe check around a little more before posting my upset on a public forum.

It's not a matter of hammering anyone for how they feel, it's a matter of countering mis-informed statements. You could look upon it as helpful, even, if you like.

We are getting unprecedented access to a game in pre-alpha state.  People normally have no idea this stuff is even going on.  Other games, like WoW, took a lot longer than this to develop.  The devs have actually told us exactly what they are working on and that they are funded until beyond release.  They do give regular info and do take questions from the forums and reddit and in live streams.

They've talked about how much time it takes away from development to organise decent quality streams and the like. The newsletters which are largely very well received do not appear by magic. The pre-alpha sessions aren't just a matter of making the servers available and then reading a few feedback emails - the work involved is considerable.  Do we want to delay the game more so that they can provide some kind of 'proof' of what they are working on?

I guess some of us trust them when they actually tell us the stuff they are working on and that the game will be released and some don't or won't, but to say we don't know what they are doing is just mis-informed.

OP here again. Doom and gloom posts are uncalled for... i stated clearly that i don't think it's a scam. I stated my worries about how much is still to be done apparently, hoping that a dev or kilsin would respond and set me at ease. Well... mission partially accomplished. While Kilsin responded, the response was a bit lacking. I was hoping that much is still under the hood and in various stages of development. But Kilsins answer was too vague for me.

Almost nobody in this thread addressed my valid concerns, most of you just "feel good" about the game. A notion that is commendable and i share it partly. I see that real quality is developed here, the game looks great and is shaping up nicely. BUT: It does seem that the amount of things still to be done is more than had been done already, at least in world building. Systems seem to be on a good path, but the world seems to be very small still. And that's what is making me uneasy. I would very much like a statement from the devs telling us how many zones are planned and how much has been done on them. It does not have to be precise, just to set me and others at ease.

And it would be nice to see some dates. Last date has slipped by almost a year with a lot of slippage before. I am not really angry about the slipped dates. They were never promised. But i am a bit angry about the lack of updates in that regard.

I can not demand an answer. But it would be a good sign if some dev or Kilsin would address this concern. Just saying that there is a lot more that we don't see isn't enough when you are that late, that's my feeling at least.

I hope that i made myself clear this time. I totally love the concept of pantheon and by all means, take your time. But also: UPDATE US about timing issues.

Multiple recent videos and articles? What a joke.

From the VR team, I recently read a newsletter, listened to a roundtable, responded to a couple of tweets, read some forum posts, saw some comments in the Discord channel...

I guess if you want to be disappointed in the amount of info coming out for this pre-alpha game, I can't stop you.

How much more time away from developing do you think they should take in order to reassure a few folks?

I'm going to give up...  It's either enough or it's not.

Maybe if you actually read what I posted......

Fanboys are pretty riled up today it seems.

What are you talking about?  Time away from development?  It doesn't take but a few minutes to post something on the forum or add a short timeline to a newsletter. Instead, it gets ignored and you have all the threads like this one.

Either way, I'm done with this thread. We can't even have a civil conversation here w/o folks reading posts correctly and others who like to twist words into their favor.
