Scenario - You have the chance to either use a teleport before it closes, allowing you to meet up with your friends to continue having fun exploring a new cave or risk your life to help a stranger survive an attack that would surely mean their death and many hours trying to recover their corpse, which do you choose and why? #MMORPG #CommunityMatters
For me it would depend how good those friends are;if they are like good weather friends I might just skip on taking the portal.
But if they are good friends it might be rude and disrespectful to keep them waiting.
Now with helping the stranger you never know what you're going to get. A closer ally than the other friends waiting on the
other end of that portal.Or maybe the stranger is a total crook that will also bring you in danger once you decide to help
Help the stanger survive for sure. That is the best way to meet a new friend. In the future I can say.. "I remember the first time I met Jimbo and saved his ass from.."
This is what I call "player generated content". It's intagable scenerios like this that breath the life into RPGMMO. You can't program this stuff, it's the magical glue that completes the world.
Depends. Do the friends need me to do what we had planned to do in the cave? If they do - it *would* be rude to just leave them hanging with nothing they can do perhaps for the rest of the available time they had available.
Is it certain I can help the stranger or is an effort to do such likely to result in *two* corpse runs?
Is the stranger in a reasonable place and perhaps just the victim of bad luck? Or not. If I see a level 20 dodging mobs in a level 40 area in order to harvest I am not motivated to help. He or she knew the risks and either is very foolish or determined that the value of the materials warrented the occasional death.
How much does death cost? If one can skip the corpse run in exchange for losing extra xp I am far less motivated to help. It may very well cost me and the friends in the cave a lot more xp to wait than the stranger would have to pay.

Teleport to my friends. The other person should have had his/her friends around.
I cast [Teleport] to teleport the player next to the [Portal]. This causes the enemy/enemies to run toward the [Portal] after the player. I then cast [Soul Swap] exchanging places with the player once again placing him/her away from the enemy/enemies and me next to the [Portal]. I cast [Freezing Rain] slowing and damaging the aggressive chasers and [Portal] away.
What the player does with that advantage is up to him/her. Hopefully, they use it wisely and either run or win the fight.
I'd probably stop and help. This reminds me of a time back in EQ I was sitting around and noticed a near by necro that was afk was almost dead. They had left lich on to trade hp for mana. As a rogue all I could do was sit there and bandage for a minute or two until they came back. They were very grateful for my help.
Well if you stop to help the one person who got in over his head you are making 5 other people wait on you. It's a tough decision. I'd probably go to the group. Upsetting 5 friends or guildmates is worse than possibly making another by helping.
I help in almost any aspect that I can when I have the time. So it evens out in the end.

rank 14 grind is no joke. i'd kill him for the glory of the elves. he shouldn't be chopping those elderwood trees to begin with. he can thank me later for saving him from exp loss.
Ask friends to come back through teleport.
Otherwise, there is leniency with friends. I have understood when one of them has had to suddenly camp in the past due to RL emergencies, we managed or found another to fill the spot. Also, when I was first making friends with them I have stepped out after a short time when a long time friend of one of them came on and was LFG and they mentioned promising time for them.
"Ill Catch up to you later, I'm going to help this person stuck in fear"
"FEAR?!!!" -they reply- "wait! let us-" but the portal closes.
We all know what its like to be stuck in Fear. 8 hours, three guilds, finally got all 8 of our corpses that one time.
/tell where are you now
-i tried to get out, but a tentacle threw me, I didnt see it.
/tell WHERE are you now
-against a wall, there's a small hut in front of me and..
/tell I mean north east west- relative to the portal in, WHERE are you
-oh, south-west of the portal in. There's a tower to my right over a small hill, I am sitting, medding
/tell DONT SIT! are you invis?
-I can't invis, I have to med I'm at 10pct health and I have no bandages, there's a imp wandering close...
/tell DONT SIT DONT MOVE the imps summon and they are aggro linked to each other, i'll be there in a minute.
Knowing that hours spent recovering a corpse isn't the ideal way to spend one's game time, I would help the stranger. My friends would understand and likely would do that same in my shoes. Hell, chances are that's how we all became friends in the first place...helping one another in some capacity or another.
Short
Help the stranger. My friends would want me to help / they would want to help. Plus you might just make a new long lasting friend.
Long
Was in sebilis behind a locked door. we took over a spot (forgot the name) from another group. had a full repop - our group wiped. Due to our good reputation / guild tags every player between zone in and this locked door helped us make it back. Naked mind you ... no gear. A Rogue and a Cleric were waiting at this locked door. Rogue picked it , Cleric began to res our group , had a wild full repop - coupld more deaths but we managed to don our gear and break the room.
I could tell, easily, another half dozen stories without having to remember very hard. Another reason for personal reputation and guild reputation can matter.

Call me a big softy. I'd have to save the unfortunate sod. My guildees would likely find a way to poke fun at me for missing the portal but they're not the sort to get mad over it. We are generally the helping sort. Besides, jumping in that portal means you miss out on meeting somebody new. And instances like that in EQ made me a lot of friends.
I know everyone likes to say: Help the guy. But, if I am in a good group and we are traveling to a new area after grouping a couple hours, wouldn't it be Rude to just be like, "sorry guys, I am going to stay and help this guy get his corpse. Find another healer when you get there...... "
Sorry. Not ditching a group like that. I click the portal. If the guy wants help AFTER I have finished my grouping. I am glad to help. I will even add his name to friends and ask if he wants help, after I am done.
Don't get me wrong. I will help whenever possible. I love helping and I don't expect anything in return, but the scenario is saying. would you just drop group with no warning to help someone. Again, I would love to help. If you still need help in a couple hours, I'm your man.
Help a stranger recover his/her corpse even if it means many hours and some risks. #communitymatters
