So I saw an image on Minus's stream yesterday and it was a Pantheon image , I believe. It immediately reminded me of TSR's Advanced D&D Fiend Folio. So you can't fool me VR. I know you guys love Dungeons & Dragons! The influence is big! :)

Or, look at the Yuuzhan Vong from the Star Wars expanded universe or the NPCs from the EQ1 Gates of Discord Expansion.

That's what the Skar where missing! Elbow sacks. It's clear to me now, its everything the Skar need to become complete.

on a serious note, please dont add elbow sacks to Skar.

Interesting.  BTW the image of the skar, along with other concept art of the new skar, can be found here: https://www.pantheonmmo.com/newsletter/2018_september_skar_roundtable/

At first I didn't care for them in comparison to the old Skar, but I've come around on them.  I'm very excited to see what they look like in action.  I love the primal, hunched posture.

I never liked the Skar, its some attempt to fill the Iksar role but never will be able too. Also reminded me of that race in GW2 and the Aliens in the 1996 movie The Arrival with Charlie Sheen with the backwards knee movement. I want my Lizzard back.

The Skar aren't meant to be a lizard race, they are pretty dynamic and unique, but if I had to create a standard fantasy trope comparison based on their lore and disposition, I see them more closely aligned with a troll than anything else.

Which race in GW2 ..? Oo

Honestly in 2019, with a century of fantasy litterature, three or four decades of RPG, and three decades of video games : I doubt we can find something that feels, looks, or seems inspired from something else.

I still have mine, though I haven't cracked it open in years.  Love that art style.

Oh I know, just miss the lizardmen. Always reminded me of Ninja Turtles movies living in the sewers and stuff lol.

For the life of me I keep seeing the Magog from the Andromeda tv show with the Skar redesign.

Granted once I see the character models moving it will probably go away, but until then it is stuck in my head.

This is what the original skar reminded me of tbh (just a little less spikey) but I can still see some resemblance with the new look. I loved Andromeda.
