staying "connected" with Terminus while RL away

Two things I absolutely *LOVED* in EQ1 :

    1) EQIM.

With this, I could log in from work and join guild chat and talk about raids etc.   I could join auction channels and banter and barter.  I did spell research and would take orders via EQIM.

Mostly it just helped us stay connected even when you simply couldn't play.

    2) Online Auction house.

Not the offline version which WOW had - I deplored that.

But the original version where you would log your character on and the would actually sit there at their kiosk, but you didn't have to be at the keyboard to buy and sell.

I loved getting home from work and the first thing I did was check my seller to see what sold.

These were great little ways to stay connected and feel like you were still in the game world while trudging and sludging through a workday.

I couldn’t agree more. I miss those days.

    Def in favor of #1.

For #2 I would be on board if I liked AH's. If they are implemented and I do end up liking VR's AH, then absolutely!

Not sure how I feel about it, honestly I was mostly and adventurer and rarely dabbled in the market much, not in for it personally but not against it if it adds to the entertainment of other players. I would rather see the personal interaction like in EQ even  though the few times I did intract I felt swindled somewhat but its just a nostalgic thing for me.

to number 1 im impartial, i do not really care for a chat system when i'm at work. But i can understand that others, especially current generation, have this certain need to stay connected . . . always. For me? when i'm sitting with a beer in the garden enjoying the sun, i really couldn't care less about whats happening in the online world.

Onlline / offline auction housing. I am not in favor of keeping my computer on, rendering graphics constantly even tho no one is looking at it to sell my items. This to me means i will need to replace my computer parts faster (this is relative, i know) and have an increase consumption of electricity without an actual need for this. (Servers are running anyway). If this auction system is implemented at all, just make it offline.

The AFK selling to me is a no no if you ask me personally. I di not want auction houses, i do not want a bazaar. I want an EC tunnel, i want an Auction channel, i want to travel to adventure grounds to get my items. To me this is the immersion i am looking for.

    Messenger, yeah I like it.

But selling/buying withouth beeing ingame ? That kills the only difficulties of beeing a market player : beeing there at the right time with enough patience.

If you can just manage sales a whole day withouth even beeing connected, it ends up too easy to manipulate.

Being able to chat while not in the game - sure. But VR doesn't need to do a thing - programs like Discord provide for this.

I am *not* a fan of being able to do anything whatsoever when not actually logged in and playing.

If possible I like it even less in Pantheon where the idea is to slow progress down and encourage immersion in a large world.

I think they mean like like /gu chat/

If your guild members online are typing in /gu, you can participate from out of game, I don't think Discord has access to games chat channels do they?

Guys.  Everytime this gets brought up I say the same thing.  You can already access you're computer via screen sharing programs like teamviewer.  You have full access to play your game from your phone or tablet.

Vr designing an app that allows simple functions like chatting or auction housing, banking or crafting (depending on the style of crafting they use) would only level the playing field.  Currently your ability to use team viewer is only limited by the power of your computer.  So anyone with a computer better than yours has a competitive advantage.

You can go to work on feets, that doesn't mean you gonna do it and make a 1 hour walk every day instead of a 10min drive. Making things as they were easy, essential, and accessible to everyone in a single snap is not deserving anything.

You're often going that very same loophole : you can do it somehow else (not mentionning any difficulty, technical limitation, and low popularity) so let's just bake it anyway. Nope.

I'm with Dorotea on this one. But for other reasons. I have absolutely zero desire for people from work, or while they are on whatever down time they have popping up chat windows on me while I'm dungeon crawling or otherwise trying to interact with the group I'm currently grouped with.

I don't know about the rest of you but I end up with a lot of friends and there down time while in game keeps me busy enough... I don't want to "say hi" every time one gets on a bus or takes an Uber or whatever.

As for the offline AH, nearly the same opinion, you want to play the game? Then log in and play the game. I really hope VR don't waste there limited resources on such nonsense.

I remember EQ1 had computer app you could run to keep in touch with your ingame friendlist and created channels or guilds (I don't remember it fully), I found it refreshing to be able to play another game and still be warned if I was required or simply say a hello to fellowmates withouth beeing completely cut out.

It was a bit buggy sometimes...
