Two considerations for long term longevity.

Hello all, i was just thinking about Pantheon and i was hoping to see your thoughts of certain things.

    1. Ok so you're walking about enjoying the world and you find a cave/ruin, what do you want to be inside.
Take games like ESO and WOW, you come across any cave/ruin and you get adds and a boss at the end, this is fine, but what else could be in those places, surely every cave, fort or ruin isnt just occupied by enemies with a boss at the end.
Also these bosses rarely have a story or purpose.
Obviously some caves/ruins need bosses to kill at the end, but for the games future i hope they come up with other ideas for those zones or atleast give alot of story and reasons as to why the enemies are inside.

    2. Much more important and something i hope the devs think about once the game is launched and everyone is settled, is how difficult should enemies be.
Now im not talking about HP levels or damage or what abilities they have, im talking about the same issue most MMOs have and that is how enemies react in combat, which is run right up to you in a straight line and whack you with their sword or claws...
I find it very dull and unrealistic that a wolf has the same fighting technique as say a human bandit with a sword.
If you're fighting a wolf, it should run to you obviously, probably not in a straight line, especially if you're shooting towards it or casting fireball towards it.
It shouldnt be too hard to kill but it should atleast be aware of the dangers around it to some extent.

On the other hand, you walk along the woods and find a bandit, he should be very difficult, this is a human being, hes scared, nervous, but also evil, he cares about his own life but not yours.
Human Enemies should be some of the hardest enemies to kill and not just bosses, this bandit wants to survive he should be doing everything in his power to defeat you while staying alive, stuff like using line of sight, using the environment, dodging and reacting to what weapons/spells you're using, by no means should he be charging a spellcaster with a sword as im shooting spells in his face.

How would you like to see certain NPCs attack you and do you agree a human should be putting more effort into a fight than say a wolf.

Now i do understand implementing this would be quite the task and obviously VR have other priorities to work on.
Thats why these could be long term changes to slowly add over years and years.

    Thanks for your time.

Hi Grimseethe, take a look at the game tenets, there will be challenging mechanics that mobs will have such as calling for re-inforcement, awareness and intuitive attacking. I amy also add that there will be random bosses that will spawn and other events based on your choices as well.

    Take a look here.
