Their game or your game?

This is sort of a mental strength test/clear position test

Are you interested in playing pantheon as the devs design it?

Are you interested in playing pantheon as the players design it?

The mental test is keeping the response to only "Their game" or "My game"

the position test is just where you stand on the question.

    Their game, hands down!

My position on it has two parts

    1) For 20 years I have watched players ask for things in games, for the Devs to fix "problems" and them do so and this has led to what we have now. Games I don't want to play (we don't know what's good for us)

    2) Repeatedly on these forums all us armchair Developers brainstorm, discuss, argue, make our points and in the end 9 out of 10 times Brad or Cris come back with a solution none of us has even came close to.

I am interested in playing the game as it was initially pitched and promoted through the tenants.

I want them to design the game to those constraints (their constraints).

If they decide they do not want to follow those anymore, fine... be upfront so I can move on.

It is as simple as that. It is their game, but they do have a mission statement and game tenants to which they promoted.

I honestly don't know what they intend the game to be. They have an over all ideology but a lot of the core features haven't been announced that would indicate what type of game it will really be. With that being said I'm going to trust VR to make the game they want. If I like it I'll play it, if I don't like it I wont. I'd rather them not design the game around what a few people on the forums say and hold to what they think the game should be.

Us versus them is not a "mental strength test." It is called Social Identity Theory.

What makes you think this is an "us vs them"?

It is their game, they are making it and marketing it. What they say goes, what they want is reality and the only thing we have a say in the matter legitimately is if we will play it or not.

That is not an us vs them, that is called reality.

    You misunderstood me.

Ours or yours = Us or them = me or you.

I was not referring to anything about VR or the game.

I was talking about this thread being phrased in a way to start an argument instead of being productive.

Such a cut and dry question doesn't bear much discussion imo, but I'll say this: I'd rather their game succeed than my game fail.

Their game, though I’m definitely not above throwing out my idea’s that I think are interesting or novel.

Anyone who has actually done any design work knows that you start with general design goals, make prototypes, evaluate the results, adjust the targets and repeat the loop.  Best laid plans and all that.

Knowing when an idea or application is not working and having the wisdom to either alter or abandon it is the sign of a great design, game or otherwise.  Adhering to ridged constraints that are not working is wasteful and foolish.  So kudo’s to VR for being willing to be flexible while keeping centered on their original design goals.

Thier Game - The game Tenets and every interview or article from the Devs is consistant with what I want.

    Their game.

Im loving the amount of thought and world building, along with the attention to detail to everything.

All the tears on this forum are wasted, as the devs are building the game and Id prefer to keep it that way.

    Their game.

I've seen numerous idiotic, lamebrained, unbalanced and otherwise horrible concepts, ideas and mechanics people on these forums have suggested...so yeah, I'll go with what the developers are designing.

Mushrooms are nice.  I had a Mushroom Room in my pyramid in Landmark.
