REQUEST: Engaging/Fun Weekly Podcast

So based on my past experiences with games going threw development one in particular stands out in having one of the best development content delivery podcasts, and that title was "Rift, by Trion Worlds". While the game itself may not have been as successful as it had originally hoped for, my wife, friends, and myself found their weekly podcasts super exciting.

How did they make these podcasts unique, fun, exciting, etc? Well for starters they had two highly chrismatic people doing them... Chrismatic you ask? Yes, they were attractive and well spoken, and in general had high levels of enthusaism. Next they would review the forums (not just their forums, but other websites like MMORPG) looking for top threads to comment and discuss. They would also leak small amounts of footage of the development being done related to these topics etc...

What we were left with was a weekly update that was extremely entertaining and engaging and it left us feeling like the game was truly moving forward and growing. It helped generate a ton of hype and in my opinion their launch was quite successful, and in all honesty the game was really good, they dropped the ball at releasing content at a sufficent pace and/or making the progress slow enough for them to generate said content.

(Side Topic); To avoid that mistake, either go back to EQ1 days where it would take a week to level up, or plan to constantly release new content weekly beginning the first week of release.

I would really like to see GameBreakerTV and Garry Gannon (or something similar) be provided for this game, I really hope this game get's the attention it deserves, and in my opinion there are a lot of old timer MMO players who are craving said game.

What are your thoughts, is there something like this already in place that I have overlooked? Is there any people with access to pre-alpha who would be allowed to make said content? Does someone want to hire me to put something like this together? :) J/K on that last part :)

podcast: the life of a pvper in pantheon

stellar: good evening ladies and gents.  welcome welcome welcome!

so i'm here with pantheonplus' minus here to discuss... the life of a pvper.

now if you guys haven't checked out here podcast i highly recommend it if you are a pver.

fake minus:  pvpers really do ruin the game!

stellar:  yes we really do.  you see in order to understand a pvper.  you have to live as a pvper.  what do i mean by that?  you ever heard the term "honor among thieves?"

fake minus:  it's a cryptic expression, but it pertains to how honor only stays with other thieves and not those they rob.

stellar:  exactly.  pvpers are like that.  to the outside world they are barbaric, but to other pvpers they develop nuances in the culture.  it's similar to how pvers like to wait to pull everything is scructured and us pvpers are like just pull the damn mob.

honestly it's actually pretty hard to make content on something we can't experience therefore we can't talk about yet.  maybe i should do a podcast about pvp.  plus i think under the tos for prealpha and alpha is very strict about releasing content until x amount of time has passed.

I would prefer they just keep working on the game, give us our monthly new letter, and forget about creating "hype"

Hype is worthless to me. Give me Alpha, Beta, and then Release...

THEN create "hype" if they like.

Worth pointing out that there are several community podcasts that happen regularly that talk about Pantheon.  None of them have inside information from the devs, but they're usually engaging and entertaining.  There's even one run by a PvP guild.

All of us here have made pledges of some kind.  Time is money in every industry, including this one.  Do you want to see the money you pledged used on "selling you" or do you want to get meaningful information?  I have watched lots of well-meaning independent game companies squander money on "fluff".  I an a newcomer here, and one reason I chose to pledge is because I saw that that money was being spent wisely to get Pantheon completed in a timely fashion.  It is becoming a common ploy for companies to generate excitement with slick video presentations and personable hosts! I'll gladly settle for what we have as it seems to be far more responsible!
