Personally I don't see why any class must be mostly good or mostly evil unless required by the lore. Nor do I see why any alignment should look different just because it is good or evil.
Race is another thing entirely - a class that can only be from a race that most of us would say is "evil" by culture or nature will probably be almost all evil but because of the race not the class.
So to me there is room for good, evil or neutral members of any class except as mandated by lore (as a paladin in D&D had to represent a *good* God) or race.
There is 4 races that can be monks in pantheon, so there is going to be the racial tensions and alignments, but i feel there should be multiple clans of monks, specifically with humans. Factions within Races. Iksar monks do not belong in freeport, and human monks don't belong cabillis, but i feel that alternate clans would adopt different racial monks based on faction. An iksar can never be purely good, they do not have the range of emotion, they are part lizard. An iksar paladin would be ridiculous in my eyes, but could an iksar monk join a human monk clan if the human clan was indifferent to the suffering of others that dont align with their goals.
What would be interesting to me, lore-wise, is if each race's take on monks in terms of their society was actually very different.
For example, humans might have several animal-based "clans" that compete with each other, dating back to influence from the Gento, before the Gento were wiped out by the Revenant. The Archai may have a martial religious order devoted to mastery of unarmed combat through attunement with geomantic principles. Skar monks may be viewed almost like berserkers, to the point where even other Skar think they're crazy, and the Dark Myr monks might be a feared/respected elite group of warriors, who eschew weapons in order to prove their superiority.
Simply put, I think we can be more creative with the lore side of different race/class combinations ;) This should be true for other classes as well.
yeah i miss monks that dual weild bo staves :) i wish i could also play as a ninja as well. I also think that maybe the dark myr, and the arachai instead of fein death could enter an alternate plane to avoid and loose agro on enemy. just to give it a different racial spin.
I have had 2 differant masters in Kungfu. Both had systems that gernerated power differently.
Each race would natually have have their own system. Therefore their own clan. There many commmon elements for humanoids in general. but I would expect each clan would generate and deliver power differently.
For example - "Flurry Punch" I would expect different animations for each race. The Dark Myr will deliver strikes differenty than humans. The Skar would definalty have a unique fighting style based on their bony prominences. Archai are elemental properties involved.
If you really want to develope the Monk nicely, than you have fighting forms recognizable by race. Bring out the cultural differences or each race. So the first time you see a Skar Monk, your like... "Wow, that was a Skar Monk, that was cool!"
I can invision each race more accustomed to a weapon type. For instance, I could see Skan fighting with Deer Horns (simular to their body styles). Humans could have staffs and duel wielding canes.
