I am asuming playable races. Archai - Water based Monk.  I interested in what the racial traits will be.  I have some strong role-playing ideas for an elemental monk.  I came up with an idea for a training ground for Archai Monks called the "The Valley of Elements"  It is a place where where all the enviromental extremes converge.  Because of this natural phenomenon there are areas of balance and harmony, as well as chaos and destruction.  This allows "The Valley of Elements" to be ideal trianing ground for the legendary Archai Monks.

But the storytelling is through the eyes of Caine, a human monk, who was given the oppportunity to train along side the Archai Monks.  There needs to be something the human monk can offer to the Archai as well unlock this inner power.  This is a bit of mystery and the change that takes place in the Caine..  (until more Pantheon details come out.)

Dark myrs if they are fishsticks ! Because I like evil races and dark elves aren't represented outside of myrs, they have a lot of potential of misplaced pride to be really entertaining to play.

@Caine I like your ideas as they come close to my second class of choice : monk.

Either burning and short tempered like a roaring volcano, or earth and placid like the mountain...

OGRES Bigger is Always better ;)
To be honest many of the races appeal to me and i will deside (When/if) the race passice and active skill is revealed.
ill play a Shaman, so who ever makes a badass Shaman is my race.

Visually, once I see them all in game I'll pick a favorite race.
    Class-wise, once I've tried each class, I'll re-pick a favorite race.
Trait-wise, once all the traits are set for launch, I'll re-pick a favorite race.

I like to play a race that complements the class I'm playing. For me it's a Human Direlord. But each race has something I like about them. The whimsical halfling, deadly skar or the mystery of the gnome. So I can't really say a favorite.

At this point, I don't think I can choose just one. They all have an appeal for multiple reasons. Right now I'm leaning ogre and halfling, but I'll probably eventually have at least one of everything!

Skar.  First off it has the Shaman class available to it.  While I had originally intended to be an Ogre, I'm not sure that Shrink is going to be a thing in Pantheon and I did not want to deal with being a big race when adventuring in tight dungeons.  Lastly, as an 'evil' race, faction becomes much more of an interesting aspect to the game.  Travel won't be easy.  I doubt I'll be able to just walk into Thronefast or Wild's End without first doing some serious work.  Hopefully cities will have hidden tunnels/sewers ala Freeport/Qeynos where those races/classes who are not friends with the inhabitants can still cross the city. I also suspect there will be fewer Skar than many other races which I also really like.  There will be elves eveywhere. Skar?  Not so much.  Lastly, I really like the design elements of the race.  They will be different enough physically with a very different aesthetic sense.

Archai. So handsome and exotic. Full of angst (from a lore perspective)

    This is actually really hard.

At this point, my top two are going to be Dark Myr and Elves, for lore reasons.

I really like the backstory behind the Dark Myr.  They strike me as a society that refuses to bow to the circumstances they now find themselves in.  They may seem hard, cold, even cruel, but it is because they have not let go of their pride and determination.  It's likely that everything they do is intentionally to regain that which they have lost.  They were the rulers of their home.  Now, on Terminus, they *will* rule again.

The elves, on the other hand, I was lukewarm to at first, but as I've learned more about the divisions between the Ashen and the Ember, I've come to appreciate them more.  The elves, with their long lives, feel the weight of history far more keenly than any of the other races.  Whether they work to preserve what little they have left, or to take revenge for what's been inflicted on their people, their pain is the same.

I like a lot of the others too, those are just the two that speak to me the most right now, I think.

dark myr because they are bitter elitest that think they are better than everyone else.  plus i'm down to kill some land lubbers and i support the georgia guidestones.  too many damn sentient creatures on terminus sucking up the life force of the planet.  just like those filthy leviathans! rawr!

    really tough decision to make.
subject to change but from where I stand right now the Halflings are my favourite.
I love the lore behind them which was a big deciding factor when looking at choosing my race and class to main.
ask me again in 6 months.

I love the esthetics of the Dark Myr concept art. Merfolk are just cool in general.

It also helps that the lore behind them is interesting, with a good deal of divine influence and strong motivations for their place in the world.

I will probably not play one, but that wasn't the question :p

Can't decide between Dark Myr and Gnome.

Dark Myr because they appear mysterious.

Gnome because I imagine they are doers, not talkers. And their magic essence is a pretty unique quality.

    Dark MYR the Master race,

    why?
because other than humans they can be almost every class. ( elves can't be clerics, dwarves can't be wizards)  and humans are puny and unworthy.

EDIT: the forums dont support ASCII art?

I have to admit the Gnomes of Pantheon are a strong contender. I enjoyed reading the lore. This take on gnomes seems pretty contentious over in the gnome forums, but I found it refreshing and interesting.

yea i thought gnomes would be interesting too.  they aren't short oompa loompas.  kind of reminds me of elder scroll gnomes.  they were way beyond advance and really bad ass.

    Gnomes are amazing!

However, it depends on what Classe I will decide to play. Halfings are cool too, so are the Ogres and Skars.

I think the Ogre is my fav so far. Pantheon has the best looking Ogre I have seen in any game. (i do still love the Original EQ ogre too)

I can't say anything about races being better or worse. The supreme race is Dark Elf and you guys didn't bother using them....

    Oof, this is hard.

Can it be a 5-way tie? Elf, halfling, dark myr, gnomes, and archai (but only if they get new models that better represent the grace and majesty in their concept art).

I love the unique flair of Pantheon's elves - the more east Asian aesthetic is different but appealing. Halflings have a great wildling vibe, and I'm always keen on nature-lovers. Dark myr are really beautiful (I hope we get head crest options!), which is a plus, but I find their backstory extremely compelling as well. Gnomes are hands down the most unique race in Pantheon and just so cool looking! This may be the first MMO where I ever consider playing a gnome.

I can't unsee this 80's image when I look at the halfling concept art model. other than that I really think all the races look great so far.
