Yes there will be a pvp server - you are correct.
But that doesn't mean it would be their first choice if they could only have one alternate ruleset. My only point is that if I were a pvp player I might not be too enthusiastic about limiting the number of servers since there is no guarantee pvp would make a *reduced* cut.
For the record - I agree there should be a pvp server. I agree the community should not be too badly fragmented. I don't know enough to have an opinion on how many servers there should be and one critical thing I don't know (because no one knows it not even VR) is what they will decide the ideal population per server will be. They won't decide this until at least alpha testing and quite likely beta testing.
Everyone's already answered the original question, but I just wanted to chime in and say that I hope there are more than enough slots to have at least one of every class, if not more. Anything less than 10-12 would feel woefully inadequate.
