Hello All,
I have never played EQ but I do play WOW religously. One thing that had me in love with wow was crazy epic gear sets that just looked mystical and epic.
Will Pantheon have these kind of armor sets. I mean the kind of armor you see and say "WOW that is EPIC!!" and not "oh that cool"
Will there be anything like armor sets that give certain traits when you equip lets say 2/4 or 4/4.

In a word.... Yes. From what the devs have said.

I fairly remember they said no to bonus sets. Not talking about cosmetic, but additionnal effects the more pieces you wear.
There will be sets which are very distinguishible... Much like Ravenscale and the like in EQ. They talked about it.
In terms of looks, yes. There will be sets of gear that go together and look epic. Will there be tier set bonuses...don't think so.
However, you should look forward to gear sets that have certain clickies(which are pieces of gear usually that have a castable spell on them) on each piece.
I'm ambivalent towards gear sets (i.e. the ones that give bonuses for wearing 2/4, 4/4, 5/6 etc.). On one hand, I think they can be pretty unique and add a lot of fun/cool effects, especially as a goal for accomplishing difficult dungeon or raid content; on the other hand, I feel that they make it trickier to avoid the issue of everyone ending up in the same gear at max level.

Which will be a "no".
They mentiobed "Epic Armor' in one of the streams, that would be quested, so that may not be 100% accurate.
Aye, to clarify...
Yes there will be types of armor that will match aesthetically and look really awesome.
However, currently, they are not leaning toward stat bonuses for wearing multiple items of that type at a time. This is because situational gear is very important in Pantheon. You will be switching gear quite often depending on the encounter, and they don't want you to feel "locked in" to a certain set.

Let's not forget that they HAVE mentioned 'Epic Armor', Baz. I would imagine that there would be bonuses for having a complete set of it.

Can you quote your source on that Baz? I was under the impression that set bonuses had been an "official yes" for awhile.
This was from within the last year or so:
Will there set bonuses?
Chris: Yes. At higher levels there will be true, complete sets of armor. These will be legendary sets with Lore backing them. To equip one of these sets in its entirety will provide bonuses for the wearer, indeed.
To my knowledge that last quote from Joppa is the most current and official statement regarding set bonuses. There were a few other related topics that came up as well, which can be found here:
https://www.pantheonmmo.com/newsletter/2018_march_armor_101/
Situational gear was touched on in that same newsletter:
How influential will situational gear be? Do you have a couple of examples?
Chris: Situational gear that goes beyond the traditional +Resist gear is directly connected to our Extreme Climate and Atmosphere systems.
To survive in a Frigid environment, part of that survival will be having gear that helps you acclimate to it and protects you from exposure. This goes beyond simple +Resist gear - the environment itself will kill you quickly if you are not properly acclimated.
Our Atmosphere system is similar. One of our Atmospheres is called Frenetic Floor. When entering the Frenetic Floor environment, gravity will increase substantially while the floor under your feet becomes intangible! That is a recipe for disaster...unless you have a certain artifact - a special pair of boots perhaps?

This will happen regardless of set bonuses. Once the gear is discovered people will create BiS lists and most people will follow them.

I agree, what I was implying is that it's possibly easier to mitigate that happening without set bonus gear. I.e., it's easier to create situations in which a certian piece of gear isn't always BiS when you don't have to deal with entire sets of gear. But, yes, the BiS lists will arrive quickly once the gear is discovered.

When I read this I am not sure if you are talking about the way armor looks. To be honest if you are talking about the gaudy rainbow robes with giant shoulder pads biiger the the players head, knee pads made from dragon skulls, and gloves that look like Mickey Mouse hands. then to answer your question, No.
Not sure if this was a stylistic question, or stat question really. I for one am not a fan of that art style and hope not to see it in Panthoen.
everyone has their preferance though. Just my 2 cents.
