What class?

What class do you plan on rolling for your Elf character? If applicable, you can also state the faction (Ashen, Ember, or Lucent).

    EDIT 4/13/2019:

So far everyone else seems to be favoring Ranger, and I remember in the Elves Roundtable Jared mentioned that he really was looking forward to playing an Ember Elf Ranger, and the concept art on the Ranger class page shows a female Ember Elf Ranger as well, based on the degree to which the team felt it would fit the race.

But I'm here to tell you that's not the class combo I will be playing. And that is for one reason only, and that is because I still play D&D pretty regularly as a social activity in today's world of dumbed-down, solo-friendly MMOs, and the race/class combo I usually go with there is a Wood Elf Ranger. One thing I like that VR is doing with Pantheon is seeing what all the most common racial stereotypes are and trying to put their own spin on them and make them feel different. That's why I'm not going to be rolling an Elf Druid, or an Elf Ranger, or a Human Cleric. Because a big part of me would see myself rolling a Human Cleric in Pantheon and be like, "You just copied your main from Everquest!" Or "You copied D&D!" You get the point.

So if I do go Elf, pretty much the two classes I would look at are: Shaman and Summoner. Looking at the teaser ability lists, I'm all for either one of those; if I do go Summoner, something like an Ashen who views summoning magic as an art, a science, and a way of fending for himself all at the same time would be the general idea, and that would also fit in with the Ashen being the more introspective rival sub-faction to the Ember. Elf Shaman...there aren't really any Shaman characters I've mained that are like Pantheon's Shaman class, the closest would be a Tauren Shaman in WoW and that was Enhancement speced (DPS rather than Healer). But when you look at the lore of Pantheon's Elves, it does kind of make sense that they can be Shaman but not Clerics, given their tragic past and how I cna see them wanting to commune with their spirits, caring about ancestry, etc. So I think an Elf Shaman would be kinda cool, it'd be a nice addition to my list of characters.

Maybe Ranger if I play one, or Bard ? Not set on the faction, I usually like more active elves (like Ember) but others can be twisted differently.

I don't usually play Elves, but in an attempt to understand as much as I can about the game, I feel like I should play one at some point. I am planning on making that Elf an Enchanter. The Elves, like every race in Pantheon, will be slightly different from most games, so they may surprise me. But there's no way I can predict whether it'll be Ashen, Ember, or Lucent until I actually get more info on what the differences between them are that impacts gameplay.

I'd like to play Elf Druid but unsure of faction traits/perks. Where will my spells work most effective? Will Ashen help most against undead? Ember against living? Lucent against magic?

I like classic. I go Elf Ranger most of the time.

Played an Elf Ranger in EQ and Vanguard. Will be playing same combo in Pantheon.

    Druid for me!

Don't have enough information on the sub-factions within the race to pick yet.

The Ashen are something closer to humble; not showy. They can be somber. Their hair is straight and colored dark. They often color their faces as ash. They enjoy being indoors. They enjoy study. They wish to protect and prosper within their lands.

The Ember are less humble than the Ashen, more showy. They can be aggressive. They enjoy outdoors and being around the flora and fauna. They look for animal companions. They dress and wear their hair in an outdoorsy, natury style. They wish to seek out evil in other lands and for the Elves to be as great as they were before the Pestilence.

    Hope that helps, Pelorix.  :)

I usually take elves as my main race for my magic casters - though in Pantheon Gnomes stole my heart in that regard - so if i'll role elf it'll be either ranger, bard or druid (though ranger and druid could as well be a halfling in my case so we will see) - that' s still pretty long way to go though, as I have plenty of other classes that I'd rather play first ...

Most of my characters will be elves... so that being said. I am thinking Druid, Shaman, Enchanter, and Summoner.  This is what  I am thinking at the moment... although not ruling out wizard

DRUID !!!  I feel that the Elf + Druid combo = Iconic

As for Ashen v Ember...  it really will come down to which one I find more attractive physically (barring any unforseen Stat/Reputation/Skill bonus)!

I'm torn among Bard, Rogue, and Ranger.  But one this is certain - I'll be an Elf!

@Tigersin I appreciate the background :)  It will be hard to pass up the complementary innate skills of Ember, but I love the distinction between the two.
