I have the browser set to remember me here. I stay logged in all the time. but the forums "forgets me" about once every week or two.
I just wrote a very long comment on a post, hit POST and it wanted me to log in losing the ENTIRE post i had written up.
is the a certain day that you guys force log out people from forums?
if you are going to log people out, remember what we wrote when we are forced to log back in. pisses people off to lose a 20 min write up. I am sure I am not the only person that happens to.
They were glitching me a few hours ago in a way I've never encountered before. I had a few forum pages open in browser tabs before I decided to log in and make a comment. After logging in, not a single one of those tabs would switch to me being logged in, no matter how many times I reloaded each tab. Used to switch immediately, every time. Finally had to close out the browser completely, and restart it. (Firefox 60.0.2)
Hey VR, any guesstimate when we switch to new forums?
In 1999, we didn't have no fancy forums. BBS were still the dominant communication tool. As most people used phonelines and slow modems to connect to "the internet"
PHP was just beginning to get viable in the late 90's and there were not a lot of web tools, if any. HTML and browsers were just being beginning to find themselves.
Good news, virus's were not a thing anyone knew about. Bad thing, just getting your sound card working was a nightmare.
Now get off my lawn darn kids - have a cookie.
I find all my problems come from hitting the back button - always logs me out, for some reason.
